So does Aria die as it stands now? She was on the Citadel. Maybe they could have the excuse in DLC that she didn't and that she is back on Omega.

Actually, maybe Retake Omega would also including a new ending. Maybe retaking Omega and helping Aria, changes the tide of the war for some reason and would thus generate a new ending.

If they would do that, that would be two birds with one stone

Lol Omega is the new Citadel and it has a better Catalyst.

Yeah, Omegas Catalyst is Azure, like Aria^^... ähhhhm, you know what i mean^^:P

What's with Gamble and Hudson? Sitting on Hawaii, drinking Bahama-Mama at a swimming-pool filled with dollar-notes?

Penny Arcade's head writer actually has posted something on their page. And while he is refraining (wisely) from clearly taking a side on the issue (especially since his partner has not finished yet), he does express something that I interpret as empathy for our cause. I would say that we would be unwise to dismiss the influence that Penny Arcade can exercise, in spite of some of the snide remakes by one of their employees.

At best, we my have a powerful ally, and at worst, I honestly believe they will give us a fair hearing.

What? what does that mean "especially since his partner has no finished yet"?? you mean the story for mass effect?

Gabe's still playing through it and hasn't finished it yet.  Someone linked a twitter post to that effect yesterday.

... we see a Shep in a hospital room in a coma and your LI ...

I like that idea. A scene like that could be quite a tear-jerker if played right. You would get a very emotional scene of your LI fighting back tears and holding Shepard's hand as she's telling him about all of the great things he is missing out on. After a recap of the important parts, depending on how prepared your fleet was, the scene would then branch off in one of two paths:

1. If you weren't prepared enough, you hear the heart monitor flatline and see her go through various stages of grief. Take Liara, for example. If Shepard promised her in LotSB that she would never lose him again and told her that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her in ME3, she could comment about that in the anger stage. Then, it transitions to a fancy military funeral. All of your crew are mourning your loss. Some of them say a few words about Shepard, with the last being from your LI. As your LI gives the longest and most emotional eulogy, the camera slowly pans out to reveal a massive crowd of people Shepard helped. Finally, it cuts to black in sync with the first round of a 21 gun salute and the credits roll.

2. If your forces are strong enough to rescue you in time, the camera is framed so you can see her face and her holding Shepard's hand. You see her look up and gasp as Shepard squeezes her hand and you watch her expression turn to one of pure happiness and relief. Shepard sits up with a bit of effort. She momentarily forgets Shepard is injured and gives him a big hug with tears streaming down her face. He winces a bit and she apologizes. She says something like, "I thought I lost you again," to which he would respond in a labored voice, "I always keep my promises." After some more touching moments/dialogue, there is a scene in which Shepard and crew are in a big ceremony being presented the highest award in existence and Shepard gives one last inspirational speech, recognizing the magnitude of the toll that had to be paid for their victory but that it wasn't made in vain, etc. It could either end there or you could finish with a short fan-service scene between a retired Shepard and his LI... little blue babies playing on Thessia, building a house on Rannoch, etc.

The people who want a really sad but cathartic ending with Shepard making the ultimate sacrifice get what they want, as do the ones hoping Shepard finally gets the happiness he deserves. Either way, I would be reaching for the tissue box. There are countless more satisfying ways they could have gone about an ending. It's a shame that the trilogy, like Commander Shepard, didn't get the send off it deserved.

hmmm...my idea is actualy,in my opinion, easier to implement but yousr
is pretty dam good too ,albeit the slightly harder to implement but is
actualy better..hmmm what is wrong if 2 mooks like us can come upt with
something like this and enitre cast of "profesional writters can't?

Honestly, despite the sheer bizarreness and lack of sense of the ending with the StarChild, I would not have been -as- upset as I was if they had not shown Joker running away and the Normandy crashing on some strange planet. That urked me quite a bit >.>.

Frankly, I would have loved to see it end with my Shep and Anderson looking out at earth from the citadel and having that heart touching conversation as the battle played out in front of them.

My husband, who doesn't get involved in these games like I do (I'm a suck for characters) even said as he finished last night, "They can't end it like that, they just can't. I don't...ugh."

I say again - For the first time I'm optimistic - Bioware's people are now so DEFENSIVE over the world wide fan criticism it reeks of acute desperation.

Yep. Looks like everyone who fought about Console/PC, Paragon/Renegade, CE/Standard Edition forgot about this bullsh- and started to fight together against somethin' that really matters.

Those wars are currently in a ceasefire until the war against Bioware is over.

My face through the end of ME3:

Image IPB

Thought that might cheer some people up.

Shouldn't the kid be balling its eyes out at the begining instead of smilling? ;)

No, I loved most of ME3. It was only at the end I reacted that way.

So did I, but I cried a hell of a lot during it.  I was crying at the ending when Anderson died and I thought my Shepard would die there with him, it was torture but so very beautiful.  My face slowly went from the crying to the baby's face during the next 5 minutes with space kid and then crying again as I saw the Normandy trying to outrun the explosion thinking "great, now Joker dies as well, haven't I been through enough over the past 38hrs?" Then MORE tears for the flash of Joker, Garrus and KAIDAN as Shepard blasted towards the destroy option, and it was right back to baby face when I saw Joker, Kaidan and Garrus on jungle planet.  I was happy Kaidan and Garrus were alive but Kaidan would never look that happy, his man just got blown to space dust.  Then the final W...T...F!? moment came with the old dude with the bad acting.  "So now it was all a dream? Seriously????"  Then tears again....

Honestly, I was prepared and wasn't crying yet. I didn't cry until afterwards when I saw the ending - if the ending had been good and Shepard got the actual heroic death she deserved, I'm sure I'd have cried then, too, but out of the bittersweet, good ending for the series, and not the disappointment...

I feel the same.  I was all prepared for a devastating but wonderful sacrifice from my man Shepard, a heroic ending to his tale, one that had meaning and one that left a better world for the universe, his companions and LI.  I was prepared but it didn't stop me from crying through 90% of the game :crying:

Oh really? Then they shouldn't promising us about ’different endings for everyone blah-blah-blah’. Too many lies and that's the result.

You would fit perfectly into their Marketing Department.

Are you sure he doesn't work there already? How else could he come up with such a poor excuse for the ending?

Long time lurker that is ready to stand and hold the line.

Finished the game last Wednesday and have been in a state of confusion/emptiness since. Five years for an ending like that... when it wasn't even that much of an ending to begin with? For an ending of a series, you need closure. And all of the theories surroudning the ending are fine and good, but even if the indoctrination theory is true, then the end we were given shouldn't have been the end. There should have been more story between waking up in rubble and Commander Shepard is a Legend!

It is bad enough that Bioware took so many of the RPG elements out of the game and took away the dialogue system that was used in the first two games. Not many investigate options and the few Paragon/Renegade choice were very few and far between (which is so unlike the past games where you could charm or intimidate the NPCs). Yet I could overlook all of those things for the most part if the ending was satisfying... but as most everyone in this thread has said before: it wasn't.

Last night, it was hard to believe that only a week ago I was standing outside a Gamestop in the slight New Jersey cold to get my midnight copy. Now, I can't even look at my Xbox 360 without my stomach turning.

Hold the line!

How is it that this gaming series to looked to be inspired so much by babylon 5 suddenly crash an burn at the very end? Heck, even with the space wizard you could have had a dialogue like this: and have a much better ending.

Good morning thread, how goes the war? Are we still holding the line?

Any new news or polls or petitions or anywhere I can chip in to help with the war effort?
