I knew it was gonna happen, it's just...  *sigh*

This just goes to show they  knew about the problem but did nothing about it other than program in the error message we see on screen.

Really a shame that they couldn't get this right for the last game of Shepard's story.

So they probably won't fix this?

BW doesn't seem to be big on patching things like this.  They did improve the scanning in ME2, I guess, so there's hope, but not much.

Here's a blog post I whipped up concerning the issue, share it if you find it worth reading or try to violently scrub it from the internet - either works.

They responded to a Facebook thread saying they're going to pass the info along. www.facebook.com/masseffect/posts/267537799988277

I really hope that the patch fixes it or that they are working on it, because I only have one Shepard. And I don't wan't to make a new face, it just won't feel the same.

What are they going to say?  "Yeah, its an issue?"  You want them to say they'll fix it, but they probably can't/won't or they would have already.

I still can't understand why they messed up the code for importing faces from ME2 to ME3, I mean there was no problem with importing from ME1 to ME2, why didn't they just use the same method for their code?  In fact i know why it's messed up, they took out certain custom features from ME1 which is not in the character creation in ME3 which is a bummer.

My guess is most BioWare staff didn't even bother with custom faces when they made/tested/polished the series and as such didn't think it would really be an issue.

Ughhh I got pretty close with recreating mine, but the hair styles don't work and I cannot find the same nose. It's pissing me off. It's distracting. I've restarted the game like 3 times because I keep thinking that I need to go back and find the right nose... lol. What a stupid, stupid bug. Totally breaks immersion.

embrace perfection. embrace the sheploo. ea knows you feel this.

:( I am not very hopeful. Granted this could be in part to the fact I am up late with a baby who is refusing to sleep and had a crap day but there you are.

Saw that, yeah.  The board moves fast.  Anyway, that "they" is unlikely anyone worthwhile.  They'll pass it along, sure, but its probable that whoever they pass it along to already knows and has already decided their course of action whatever it may be.

Well, I guess we can all look at it this way, most of everyone is mad about this problem and want it to be fixed which means it will be fixed no doubt. It's to big of a problem to be ignored, and I feel sorry for people who don't have xbox live to get their games patched.

So, is the day one patch up yet or will that not go live until later? Or was there really a day one patch?

I haven't seen talk of a patch, so I don't think there ever was one.

so does it effect everyone?

It affects one group of players but not the other:

a) Long-time fans of the series, which supported it from day one, are affected, since their ME1 Shepard is lost unless they can recreate him / her or extract the facecode (see OP). But still then there is the chance that Shep will look different in ME3 due to engine-changes.

B) The target audience of the game is not affected. These players started maybe with ME2 or just now with ME3. Those are the "arcade" players, who buy games when they see them without the need to be attached to a series for years. It's probably the bigger group of the two and the one Bioware / EA hopes to get the most sales from.

So, from a strict business point of view, BiowEAre did everything right. :(

On the upside, this must mean we get a new head mesh, and even a completely random face wouldn't be as unrecognisable as DAO characters in DA2. THAT"S RIGHT DIRECT YOUR HATE BACK TO DRAGON AGE 2
