So, is the day one patch up yet or will that not go live until later? Or was there really a day one patch?

I haven't seen talk of a patch, so I don't think there ever was one.

Looked it up and the patch was definitely confirmed as existing.  So, is the patch live now or will it wait until tomorrow?  I can't get the game until the morning, so I don't know.

so does it effect everyone?

It affects one group of players but not the other:

a) Long-time fans of the series, which supported it from day one, are affected, since their ME1 Shepard is lost unless they can recreate him / her or extract the facecode (see OP). But still then there is the chance that Shep will look different in ME3 due to engine-changes.

So, from a strict business point of view, BiowEAre did everything right. :(

that'll be me then.      Is it 100% across the board or are there people for who its worked?    really disappointed with this news,   my game wont arrive for a few days,  i am going to have a go on the ME3 demo CC and try and see how well i do.       my original characters face wasn't vastly changed from the pre-sets, so it might not be too hard to fix.

Ah, and suddenly this "Wouldn't it be cool to start ME3 with a fresh character instead of importing?!" post by Chris starts to make sense...

Indeed.....You know, it's not so much the import bug that is pissing me off; it's how BW is handling it.  Burying their heads in the sand pretending it isn't here.  This thread has been here over a week and they've said nothing.  Now the issue is confirmed and they've said nothing.  All they needed to do was say, "hey guys we're aware of the issue and we're working on a fix asap; please bare with us."  I doubt there would have been as much fallout had they said something, ANYTHING...

Oh well, one of my 8 saves uses the default face so i guess I'll just use that one untill this is fixed.

I know. The way they respond to such things has never been good, but this is pretty ridiculous. As you said, a simple "we know and we're working on it" would be enough. Unless, of course, they aren't working on it. In that case, what they're doing now (i.e. nothing) would be the best way to respond.

B) The target audience of the game is not affected. These players started maybe with ME2 or just now with ME3. Those are the "arcade" players, who buy games when they see them without the need to be attached to a series for years. It's probably the bigger group of the two and the one Bioware / EA hopes to get the most sales from.

So, from a strict business point of view, BiowEAre did everything right. :(

yep

That is flat out disgusting. It's an issue they couldn't have possibly of missed and had to of known about at least since testing began, it's happens to every full series import, again no possible way it could of been missed.
Saying they are passing the info on is full out BS and a insult to their customers intelligence.

How did they do everything right? If they'd actually had it working properly, Audience B would have exactly what they already have, and Audience A would be happy too. Why does having the face importer actually work properly suddenly make Audience B unhappy?

I tried the 'workaround'. It worked perfectly fine for extracting my shepards face code into ME2 and tweaking it a little bit. However, it looks nowhere near in ME3 demo.

ME2 (imported from ME1)

ME2 using workaround, with fixing the features that workaround does not cover, like nose, hair and so on

pretty close.

Now, I pasted this code into ME3 (demo), and this is what I got.

Nnnnope.

I re-did my shep five times before I was happy. She looks a bit different, but I think I like it better now that I've played for a few hours. Still...it was kinda a bummer :/ but I'm REALLY enjoying the game.

The FB people probably aren't "official" BW people. They're, at best, marketers who have been hired to manage BW's social media. They probably only know what BW tells them which won't be everything. Its likely they've been told to only respond to message that they have pre-determined responses for. Simply by passing it along they may be doing more than they even should.

Bioware, Ya done goofed.

Nice to see Kotaku pick up on this. This is a damn same, too. 3.5 hours in and I'm enjoying the hell out of this game. It would have been so much better had it been my Shep in there,,,

You know ... reading this might seem like it's a big issue but in reality it's just a (very) small number of total players complaining with huge majority not even seing it as an issue.

I seriously doubt they're gonna "fix" this since there's nothing to fix.

Just to clarify, it's not just ME1-ME2 Shepards that are affected. It can happen to anyone it seems. My PS3 ME2 character face did not import. I had to use the face code from the original career I created.

You would think Kotaku and venture posts would have helped, but seeing how people there are saying it's not an issue and everybody has to use Sheploo anyways, I think BW will just venture through comments, shrug and leave it like that
