You can't import a face created in Mass Effect 1 into 3! Bioware has responded! (See OP)

I doubt I'll get a reply though.

Will it ever be fixed?
What were they thinking? That most players ignored ME1 and started with ME2?

Now thats racist.
But seriously, I was really glad with ME1 to ME2 imports. But now? with the final chapter? This is an outrage.

thanks BW for this, amazing that this could happen without being noticed by the Beta Team.

*sigh*
All fresh ME1 imports to ME2 have the same face code.
It disappears in NG+.

How many people REALLY use the default model?
After everything BSN has been up in arms about (DLC, Auto dialogue) I could've really cared less, but this is the one thing that has gotten to me and is really frustrating.

This needs to move beyond BSN. The mods here obviously don't care. I tried to get something started in the comments section of that "10 Things You Don't Know About Mass Effect" article on io9 yesterday, but only got a handful of responses.
Kotaku is covering it.

Maybe that will change Bioware's attitude.

Trust me, everyone's tweeted every Bioware dev there is, and if a 100 page thread isn't good enough for us to not be ignored I don't think there's much hope:wizard:

Apparently EA couldn't buy Kotaku.

It's disappointed and a little shortsighted on Bioware's part but I'll just use it as a chance to add some story to my Shepard when I'm hit with the inevitable 'Can't Import' window.
A new scar and shave his head... battle damage and a new attitude to take on the Reapers in a final battle.
And lots of autodialogue to define that attitude for you so you don't have to!
I honestly cannot believe what a worst case scenario this has become in so many ways.
That one I'm not so sure about anymore... a few of the reviews are saying there is a lot of choice in the dialogue. Have you picked up the game yet and has your experience of it been different?
If most of the choices have been taken away, it's just another sign that Bioware's turn to the EA side is complete. They don't care about that niche that have been with Mass Effect from the beginning... it's all about wider appeal and targetting that CoD crowd (their words, not mine).
Yes, I have been playing through the PC version with a friend. My own xbox copy arrives today. when these reviewers are talking about choice, they mean plot decisions. The small incidentals in conversations where you added some nuance based on how you played your character are gone for the vast majority of the game. What choices are there are more a flag for the game to decide how to speak for you than you defining your character. It is disappointing, and the whole face import thing just feels like the insult to injury.
Could it be that you choose the option of auto dialouge for the most part? I have not played the game yet but apparently there is an option for story, combat or role-playing which affects difficulty and auto responses for dialogues. I don't want to import a stranger into my game that behaves nothing like my Shepard would.

Can't really comment on this face import thing till the 9th. Though I did a new game+ on ME2 and changed a couple face things so I shouldn't have a problem?
You are not 100% safe, ME3 also tend to mess up ME2 face codes.

Legitimate question, not sarcasm. I am actually annoyed to all hell by this. I paid 90 freaking dollars, not to mention the considerable time investment for a college student to head to a midnight launch with finals and papers and such around the corner. I don't think it's asking much to expect Bioware to, well, deliver on one of the core promises of taking one character through the series. I just cannot fathom how this would get through testing.
I tried my damnedest to recreate my old Shepard. You'd think it'd be easier, considering I've played both ME games several times and the character has been marinating in my mind for years. But I just can't. I can't get the eyes right. I can't get the nose right. I can't get the jaw right. Even the hair color and skintone seem off which is baffling as you'd think those would be very easy to fix.
I want a patch. Hell, I demand a patch, with all civility albeit plenty of forcefulness. I can't recreate my Shep on this character creator, it's just not going to happen, and I don't want to taint my first play through of this incredibly expensive game with some abomination supplanting the true face of Commander Shepard.
Are there any workarounds? I'm on a 360 if it matters. I'm also not one of those sorts that is much good with hacking things or editing savegames or what have you, though I could do the latter if given explicit instructions. I'm hoping for something that avoids that, though. The functionality has to be there. I refuse to believe that BW is so indoctrinated by the EA purchase that they just flat out decided they don't give a ****, even if a good measure of BSN has started to.
Someone please, please alleviate my mind. Something, anything. A way around, an optimistic statement from BW, anything. In the meantime, I think the game is going on my shelf and I will put my time to more productive use.

I know I should concede a little bit to your great point, but I REALLY don't want to.
This mess is stopping me from playing the game.
