Put it this way-

Its like the main character of a TV show you love being replaced, but without a storyline reason for the change.

So, imagine House M.D. but without Hugh Laurie playing the role of House, and in his place for the final season is...Michael Clarke Duncan.

Doesn't make any goddamned sense, right?

Right. It doesn't.

That's what this feels like.

I'd prefer Steve Buscemi.
Least that's how mine looked.

So.... would importing an ME1 character into ME2, opening the editor or whatever during the lazarus project thing but not making any changes, then accepting the face... then beating ME2... fix the problem?

God that sounded more and more unappealing the longer I went on but it's all I've got.

Looking like Steve Buscemi is never a good thing.

But hell, if you want to use him as the example, by all means.

As long as the point stands that this is incredibly stupid and entirely ridiculous.

Has the issue been mentioned in any reviews? I've watched a couple so far with no mention of it.

This is why the reviews are likely to be bogus.

Yes! Just what I was saying three minutes ago. It sucks.
I usually try not let the haters ruin a game for me (I really enjoyed DA2). And ME3 is not completely ruined now. But for once this is an issue that deserves the sh*tstorm.

Just read the comments on Kotaku when it wrote about the face issue... Seriously unable to decide if they are really this clueless over why people are using custom faces (even the question "Why is there an editor to begin with when the game already has a face" popped up) in an RPG, or if most of them are doing a new kind of trolling.

Well, I guess this may be the mentality of mostly the new "fans" Bioware lured in, those who essentially play shooters and compare ME to shooters.

Still don't get why people are blowing this thing out of proportions. When it was released, Skyrim had more bugs than a 10$ prostitute, You even had to do a workaroud with some tools to COMPLETE THE FRIKKING MAIN CAMPAIGN. And that didn't prevented the game for being ABSURDLY FUN. To this day, nearly all the bugs have been fixed either by official patches, or fan-made patches. :(

Regardless of its MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY bugs, the point is that Skyrim is FUN. Quite posibly the BEST game of 2011 without a doubt. And a classic that will be remembered for AGES to come.

Now we got ME3, which as far as we know has 1 very VERY small bug that we can work around without much problem, I mean just look at this:

ME1
http://jamiecotc.com...aime/Jaime1.jpg
ME2
http://jamiecotc.com...aime/Jaime2.jpg
ME3
http://jamiecotc.com...e/Jaime_ME3.jpg

and yet some people are all like "BIOWARE SUCKS, I'M CANCELING PRE-ORDER"

"BIOWARE SUCKS, I'M NEVER BUYING THEIR GAMES AGAIN"

"THIS IS ALL EA'S FAULT, THOSE GREEDY BASTARDS"

/sighs....... gamers need to grow some damn balls. I remember the days when if a game was released bugged, it REMAINED bugged, forever. No official patches, no fan patches due to lack of internet, games were either good, or were not. If you wanted a bug fix you had to BUY THE GAME AGAIN in the future updated releases.

Now we got gaming companies that release games, and if the game is bugged, they release fix patches FOR FREE, so you can enjoy the game. And yet people whine. Come on kids, this IS NOT a game-breaking issue. Issues I'd have a problem with would be variable desicions from ME1 not importing correctly (Like Conrad Verner on ME2) or game crashing every 5 seconds, or voice-clips not working, or quests not triggering.

But having to spend a few extra minutes recreating your face is REALLY such a big deal? Skyrim had WAY WORST problems than that on release. Didn't stopped it from becoming the best friking game of this decade.

seriously, GET THE BROOMSTICK OUT OF YOUR BUTTS and enjoy the damn game.<_<

The problem with that is when you open the editor you start from scratch. It won't allow you to make even small changes to your import as it just discards it when you open the CC. (I wanted to update my female Shepard's hair from ME1 to ME2 but it wouldn't allow me. Women change their hair from time to time!!)

Oh, I know.

Cerberus's Lazarus Project wasn't 100% successful with Shepard's face reconstruction.

This is ridiculous.

ME2 had a save importer that didn't cause any major issues like this, why is this so hard?

Sheesh Bioware. I spent a lot of money on ME1, ME2, all the DLC for those games, CE of ME3, and the CE Guide of ME3, and this is what I get in response?

Patch this ASAP. This is going to infuriate a LOT of people.

@GambleMike But people who imported from ME2, using an UNCHANGED facecode from ME1 are having problems.

Michael Gamble
@njfritz yes, good point. If that occurs, you will be asked to rebuild the face.

Person Dude ‏
@GambleMike @njfritz Are you kidding me? Why?!

Michael Gamble
@Person_Dude as I get more info/ conclusive info, I will pass it on. I'm not positive yet.

not positive yet.

not positive

Most awesome "confirmation" ever.

Without ploughing through 196,000 posts to find out, did the confirmation ever get better than "I'm not positive yet"?

I should be working right now but rather I surf on this forum to see if this bug is fixed yet and if I can play when I get home.

You're kidding[.  I could have sworn someone told me there was an option just to lightly edit an ME1 face.

Well, then, what the hell, man.  I'm trying to not be one of the complainers but even being willing to replay ME2 all the **** over again when I literally just finished it a week ago just to have my character apparently isn't enough.  I've got nothing.  I guess I'll start complaining in the morning, or something.  Unless we hear something about a patch or whatever.

What I want to know is if people were clamoring for answers/a fix/a patch a week ago, or if the real crapstorm started after the actual launch.  That's going to define where it's understandable to be cynical and where you're just being irrational.

I hope this helps you guys, but I ran into an issue with importing my character last night freezing up my Xbox. After the third attempt, I noticed that there was a resume option on the main menu. I tried it out and it appeared to work fine. I've got the details posted here: http://wanderson75.net/archives/6924

I don't think it'll help 100% of the people, but I hope it'll help a few. When I get back into the office I'll try to post a video of the lockup and what I did to resolve it.

I started ME3 with my import and my shepard's face looks fine, no issues. Are you sure the Day 1 patch didn't fix the problem?

Is it a face imported from ME1?

Doesnt matter how long the bug has been around.  This shouldnt have happened.  Thats why this thread is generating a lot of feeling and has thousands of replies.

As for the fixes in the OP people shouldnt have to resort to that.  Additionally some of those are tricky to do for console users.

Don't cloud the issue needlessly. ME1 import into ME2 works fine, even if it generates a bogus facecode.

The problem is that those saves cannot then be imported into 3. No point harping on about the bogus facecode issue at this point.

Of course the fixes are not ideal. I was just pointing out that they are the only way to generate a proper facecode for ME1 Sheps imported into 2.

@Wanderson: That doesnt' sound anything like the problem I had, though, and I bet that's the case for most. For me it flat out and immediately gives me an error message that it can't import the face, and all I can do is say "herp derp okay".

Made me feel a lot like Shepard on Horizon. Having mud slung at you and just having to accept it.
