Well I made my femshep. She looks okay - but the character faces in ME2 are so different - she somehow decided to cover her purple eyes up with blue contacts and has to add iridescent dye to her hair to make it shiny.

It sucks that you had to resort to that just to have the experience of playing ME3...I'm relunctant to boot up singleplayer because I was already disappointed with the demo...running around with a FemShep that looked nothing like mine. I tried to recreate her face but it's just not the same with the wrong color eyes, etc. I didn't mind that the hairstyles varied ever-so-slightly from ME1 to ME2, but this is too much.

I built a purple-eyed Shepard almost exclusively on the fact that it's a feature that isn't available in ME2 or ME3, so it's a clear indicator to all those who're aware that she's an ME1 Shep. Her purple eyes were a symbol for me, like, "She's been with me since ME1" pride. To do something as minor as force us to change her features makes me very...very sad. My eye color hasn't change over the course of 3 years, why should hers?

I started NG+ on ME2 to get the face code and it turns out horribly in the ME3 CC. I know in time there'd be some fan-based fix on this, other than what's been offerred. I'm just really disappointed that they aren't answering our problems...They need to address this ASAP, it's stopping people from actually playing.

Its not the same hearing it from anyone else.

I'm lucky in that the facial structure alone was pretty simple to work into a close approximation. What broke the deal for me is the fact that apparently in the last 6 months, the Salarians developed and implemented a new genetic virus that wiped all natural red hair from the galaxy.

Yep.  Discussed this with the demo CC.  Some of the face structure problems that exist between ME2 code and ME3 can be resolved by shortening or increasing the length of the head to ensure that you have the same ratio between the triangle defined by your eyes and center mouth.

@masseffect just tweeted me saying 'we're looking into this concern' which I assume is code for 'we don't know the best way to spin this yet', but hopefully someone official will actually give a response at some point.

Could someone in Bioware please let me know what is going on with the facial import system. None of my Male characters will import their faces. The choices are still their and I do not remember the sliders for making them in the first game. My female characters all imported over with no problems, but not a single male. They are all ME1 Characters I might add. Is there going to be a patch for this? At least let the community know if something is being done about fixing it.

Thanks!

I already used the demo to plan how I'm going to recreate all may characters' faces, so no skin off my nose.

People just go to your ME2 game it shows your character code on the beginning screen just copy it down and put the numbers into the code box on ME3, it won't be exactly like the original but it will be close. Plus do you not think people change their hairstyles and facial hair in the course of their life I mean come on, oh and don't forget plastic surgery, I mean Shepard did die and get reconstructive surgery just make some story in your head and deal with a tweaked face.

The comments on the Kotaku article are sooooo depressing.

Maybe we're the crazy ones.

Here is my current course of action:

1. Spent three hours trying to get my Sheppard right, got close but it is still a little unnerving, definately affecting some of the immersion qualities. I appreciate how good of a job BW did on the first two so I am going to do my best to "soldier on" so to speak while I wait for a patch.
2. If ME3 turns out to be a Indiana Jones 4 situation (still think Indiana Jones 4 Harrison Ford looks a lot more like Indiana Jones 3 Harrison Ford than my ME3 Shep looks like ME2 Shep) than I don't even have to worry about a patch. I can get into the story again if a patch fixes the import, but after this letdown I refuse to let me original Shep be a part of ME3 if it turns out to be disappointing as well. I'd rather go back and play ME2 and let my Shep go down with the Collector ship than have him be part of a big dissapointment. Not saying it will be a dissapointment, just saying that for me Indiana Jones was a triology. Hope it doesn't come to that though. Please don't let me down BW.

I'd love it if they posted that HERE rather than on twitter.

I always used to think Bioware were good with their fans. Always talking on the forum, giving insight, updates on patches, DLC. What happened?

Mind linking us to your tweet to them? And their response, really. It'd be a nice addition to the OP.

I don't think I could swallow the "plastic surgery" bit for my Shep, because obviously she must've went through a race change...

The @masseffect twitter was, as recently as yesterday, telling people that importing would work fine. It would then refer others to the EA faq. I think a whole bunch of people have access to that account, and they're not all on the same page

OT: BSN kills phone batteries.

Shepard's from ME1 don't have face codes, period - this is not a viable option for many.

At least they're willing to give a response there. Remember Deception? (of course you do) BW shut up completely, even on Twitter. At least we're getting something, rather than nothing. There's some hope.

This is the tweet:

I doubt whoever is running that account is important enough to know anything though tbh.

I just took pictures of all my Sheps and put them in a folder on my computer. At least that will give me an idea what they're supposed to look like, when I import.

LIkewise, I spent most of my time on the demo playing with the CC, suspectingt this eventuallity, but it's still a game breaker for Bioware in the sense that I will return my $84 CE and just wait six months to pick it up used for $30 at Gamestop.

Can't you just tweak that?  Skin colour and Hair colour isn't like facial proportions, you can do that by hand.

That sucks. Not the face itself but that people have to do this and have had bad luck with a faithful recreation.

Yes my shepard has no face code. Seriously worried here. This is the only reason I like mass effect is my personal connection with the character.

Heh, of course I do, I led the damn resistance.

Honestly though- This is worse than what happened with Deception.

Deception was a novel. The novels will always be worth less than the games, and if anyone actually wasted money on it, it was frivolous compared to the $60 to $100 people spent on Mass Effect 3 who now realize they can't even carry over the looks of their characters.

Its Mass 2's lack of a helmet toggle all over again, only a million times worse.
