Still don't get why people are blowing this thing out of proportions. When it was released, Skyrim had more bugs than a 10$ prostitute, You even had to do a workaroud with some tools to COMPLETE THE FRIKKING MAIN CAMPAIGN. And that didn't prevented the game for being ABSURDLY FUN. To this day, nearly all the bugs have been fixed either by official patches, or fan-made patches.
Regardless of its MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY bugs, the point is that Skyrim is FUN. Quite posibly the BEST game of 2011 without a doubt. And a classic that will be remembered for AGES to come.
Now we got ME3, which as far as we know has 1 very VERY small bug that we can work around without much problem, I mean just look at this:
ME1

ME2

ME3

and yet some people are all like "BIOWARE SUCKS, I'M CANCELING PRE-ORDER"
"BIOWARE SUCKS, I'M NEVER BUYING THEIR GAMES AGAIN"
"THIS IS ALL EA'S FAULT, THOSE GREEDY BASTARDS"
/sighs....... gamers need to grow some damn balls. I remember the days when if a game was released bugged, it REMAINED bugged, forever. No official patches, no fan patches due to lack of internet, games were either good, or were not. If you wanted a bug fix you had to BUY THE GAME AGAIN in the future updated releases.
Now we got gaming companies that release games, and if the game is bugged, they release fix patches FOR FREE, so you can enjoy the game. And yet people whine. Come on kids, this IS NOT a game-breaking issue. Issues I'd have a problem with would be variable desicions from ME1 not importing correctly (Like Conrad Verner on ME2) or game crashing every 5 seconds, or voice-clips not working, or quests not triggering.
But having to spend a few extra minutes recreating your face is REALLY such a big deal? Skyrim had WAY WORST problems than that on release. Didn't stopped it from becoming the best friking game of this decade.
seriously, GET THE BROOMSTICK OUT OF YOUR BUTTS and enjoy the damn game.
I haven't logged into this account since ME2's release but this issue has got to me.
That's all well and good for you... kudos. But you're on a thread... in the minority where people are upset. You're entitled to your opinion as are we. We've invested time into our Shepards and many of us have an emotional attachment to them on a personal level. It's not about the time we have to spend re-making our Sheps. If there was a button you could press, and be directed to the longest most tedious half an hour planet scanning bonus game that would get us our original Shepard back, most of us here would do it. But read through the thread, some of us here are so invested, we're holding off playing the game, just hoping that it gets fixed. Ok, you're not that invested in your character... but many of the rest of us are.
Details such as making your Shep look like the character you've created over two games, like yourself or a loved one, but then knowing that that Shepard is not the exact same one creates a disconnect that will stay throughout the experience. ESPECIALLY for those who went renegade in ME 2 and I sincerely hope the scars will carry through, or there will be hell to pay....
You talk of the technical side, which is something totally different to what we're concerned about. Of course Skyrim had it worse. But that doesn't make this right. Skyrim was broken on a technical standpoint... in many peoples cases, gamebreaking. This isn't a gamebreaking issue, but ME's USP for many is carrying Shep through your games... with a new face, many of us feel like we're just another of the newcomers. Dramatic, yes. We still get our game saves. But we've been spoilt by a great series, so don't pee in my cereal and call it cornflakes lol
I too remember when games with game killers were released and stayed that way. The difference between these times and them is, there is no way this went unnoticed. In those days those games were held back until done. In these days it's an excuse to release the unfinished. If you're going to do that to get it out early, fair enough. but customer feedback is important. Just... talk. We're not expecting a day 1 patch. But just to say; "We're aware of the problem and <this is our current approach to the situation>" is hardly too much to ask. Must be nice to be as laid back as you, but when you're the minority, can you not consider that you are underreacting... rather than us overreacting? Just a thought.
Nothing in my gaming life has bettered seeing my Shep return in ME2. Even though my first attempt is ugly as hell. I've grown to love the little monkey.
