Hey, if the old face really does transfer to a VI, then I don't see why it wouldn't be patchable.

Frankly, this sort of thing should have been fixed through the Day-1 patch. Let's just hope that Bioware doesn't leave us hanging for the better part of the week. :(

Come on, Bioware. Don't leave us hanging!

That's what I was thinking. Clearly they CAN import the ME1 face because the VI does it.

I'm also sorry if that spoiled anything for any one. I felt it was an insignificant spoiler to reveal the VI.

I have no clue if this is a new character or imported on but it is confirmation that your face applies to a VI

Oh man this sucks so bad! I wont be getting my copy 'til later tonight when I get home so I'm hoping they'll have it fixed by then.

The hell are you people talking about? The face import worked just fine for me, I could even alter it without starting from scratch using the custom apperance function.

Not a chance.  This would require a patch, i.e., certification, i.e., a week minimum.

its certainly insignificant to me. Actually, its importance is only in making me realize how incredibly stupid this whole import appearance mess really is.

They already did look into this, otherwise I can't imagine how a programmer created a pop-up message  that clearly states that the facecode can't be imported and that we have to "update" our character face.

xsdob, this is an issue with characters that were created back in ME1. They're not importing properly.

I'm not entirely sure what's the cause of it, but it seems like a very fixable bug. Hopefully it won't take them too long to resolve it. :)

I've left a message in the thread that was created posting all the reviews directing them to comment here, seemed apt.

I'm so disappointed that I'm actually choosing to travel to my girlfriends for the weekend, ahead of the Uk's ME3 release. Imagine... choosing human interaction and intercourse ahead of stopping the Reaper threat... Bioware, you have a lot to answer for.

Well, I'm tempted to click that YouTube link... I don't want to risk any more spoilers than I've already seen, though. But, that said - I hope it is true that the face is showing up on that VI. Because, like others have said, if it can show up there, that means it definitely can show up in the game, and as such, there's no reason they couldn't fix things so it'll work on a player character as well.

I have to defend Bioware in this case. I used to program websites in C# a few years back, and when developing something, you make sure there is an error message for EVERYTHING. Even if you're sure the user will never come across it, you always make sure to give them some kind of message, just in case.

That is quite the problem, But wouldn't a post in the technical support threads have a better chance of being noticed and adressed than a general discussion post?

+1

Even though I'm really upset over this, it is true that the existence of an error message does not mean awareness of the issue on the player's end (though I really would have expected them to test importing all the way through the series).

I agree, if there's one thing I will not adhere to is the notion that this is intentional,  it wouldn't make any sense at all.

I can understand that; I don't have any issue with the programmers who included the error message. It makes sense. What I do have a problem with, though, is that, in all the time they had to test the game, make changes, and iron out bugs... NO ONE noticed this? Is there anyone there who actually played the first game?

I was just pointing it out. Wasn't defending the issue itself.

Or they knew many people modded Shepard's faces and that message because modded faces can't carry over.
