So I've seen a lot posts in this thread referring to this issue as something we should fix on our own. Lots of other users here seem to think those of us complaining are simply too lazy or stubborn to recreate our beloved characters faces and move on, and that we're being over dramatic. Let me just clarify a few points so that perhaps this issue is given a fair shake among both the user community and the staff at Bioware.
It's simple, the characters we've created and chosen to stick by aren't appearing in ME3 due to a change in the way that face construction and translation work from previous games in the series. Upon attempting to bring our characters in we're prompted with an error message stating we'll need to reconstruct them. While this may seem like a small issue to those who did not spend much time creating a face completely unique to their characters, to many of us it creates a large disconnect that doesn't allow us to enjoy the game in the capacity we, nor Bioware, intended.
Attempts to manually recreate the our characters with the new Character Creator are fruitless for 2 reasons. The first is quite obvious: many of us simply don't posses the memory or skill to manually recreate our Shepards visage closely enough to not feel that large disconnect I mentioned earlier. The second has more to do with the new system by which faces are constructed. The options available to us in the ME3 Character Creator simply don't match up with those from the previous titles.
Some options hold varying degrees of precedent with players as well. I myself am not put off by the lack of an identical hair style in ME3 that my character used in ME2, in fact I find the new ones look pretty good. I'm merely acknowledging this specific part of the issue to further support the understanding that we're not unreasonable, just disappointed. I know many people are angry they can't keep their exact same hair style, and I don't blame them, I just feel that the options presented aren't too shabby if we can't have the originals back.
What all of this together means is that even if we spent the time trying to rebuild our characters mug (as many of us, including myself have), we couldn't match it.
So really the issue isn't our unwillingness to fix it ourselves, or that we think we shouldn't have to (even though we shouldn't). It's that we can't. This issue is forcing us to either wait for a fix, or pick up with a character that, while he or she made the same choices, isn't the same person. And that's just unacceptable.
