Does the game allow you to fine-tune your Shepard's face after character creation/import?

Currently, 50% of people say this face-importing fiasco is bad enough they don't want to play ME3. What do you think:

My shepard, created in mass 1, uploaded just fine.

Damn, wish I could say the same. None of my 6 Shepards' faces either imported or looked anything like they did in the first 2 games.

If you tweaked your Shepard in ME2, the transfer works fine. Methinks that's what happened.

I am certain this is exactly what happened.  I discovered upon checking my ME2 saves in preparation after hearing about this issue that a few of my saves in fact DID have face codes.  One of which was my adept which I considered changing her face but changed my mind, and the other was a sentinel who used to be a vanguard in ME1.  It seems to me that if you even tweak a custom face, but then go back to importing a face anyways, or make any sort of change whatsoever, a face code is generated.

For an easy fix, import a character into ME2, change their class at the customization screen, and you should have a face code for them when the game begins proper.

Hopefully that helps out other people!

Yes, you can, though many people (myself included) are finding that many of the facial options present in the 2 previous games just aren't there, making it very hard or impossible to make your ME3 Shepard look reasonably similar to the previous two games.

To the code-monkeys currently tearing their hair out trying to fix this: I solemnly swear that I will be genuinely okay with "my" Shepard looking like she's from 2007 in a 2012 game. It's not going to ruin the way I look at Bioware's art team. The character models put into the game are very, very high quality, that just wasn't available a few short years ago. I know this, I accept this. One character looking outdated is not going to drag your name down into the mud.

RIP Anakin Shepard 2008-2012
Killed by Bioware's incompetence.

I think i might do a ME2 run with him where shepard dies to make it official and give him a proper send off.

If you've played the game with six! different Shepards, this entire issue should be moot as far as you're concerned. You simply have no personal canon Shepard period. You could just as well create the 7th Shepard and get on with it. Personally I've completeted both games twice with my one and only Shepard face morph, and will only proceed with ME3 once I get that particular morph in the game.

Interesting: I'll have to try this. Though even in the Shepards I CAN import, their faces still don't look the same, so I don't know how much it will do.

Thanks to this thread, I was able to take my time and rebuild my Shepard in the demo last night while waiting for ME3 to release.

I have six Shepards because I really enjoy the games and I've played each 6 times.  I strived to make each of my Shepards as a unique and important person and play them very differently from each other. Simply because I have more Shepards than you doesn't make me less attached to them.

Agreed. 6 classes, 6 Shepards, 3 Shep, 3 FemShep.  Attached to each and every one.

How about the editor? Is it improved from the demo? I remember some people said there will be more options in final version.

FYI this also happened to me when I imported a custom made ME2 character (NOT imported from ME1).

I actually think the hair styles is a big part of the problem, if you look back at ME1 you can clearly find hair styles that they do not offer in the ME3 CC and also ME2's CC. So if you have one of those hair styles, you will get the error message like me.

Yep! This is exactly what I did.  2 are mostly renegade, two are mostly paragon, and two are split even between. I also mixed the backgrounds differently for each one and romanced different people every time.  Makes the game like a new experience each time you play!

I called EA as mentioned earlier in the thread and was told straight up that there would be no fix and to just make a new face.  When I told them that was unacceptable and wanted a refund, they put me on hold for 10 minutes and then cut the phone call.
