Wow lol thats just great now isn't it hmmm and how many years have they been making this game again? And they cant even keep something as simple as importing a character easy lol can't wait to see what else goes wrong. Well thanks i wont be playing the game till they get this fixed it might seem small to some people but your custom character and interacting with the story makes the whole game. That alone turns me off :/

Hmmmm now I don't know if I should wait for the fix or keep playing the shep imposter ..

Having a hard time deciding, not that far in but the game has me hooked already.

Bioware/EA should be ashamed for this to have made it past QA. There was QA...right?

Of course there was. They hired William C. Dietz to take care of it. Image IPB

It only took the game to be released and paid for until Bioware acknowledged the issue.....can't even tell Bioware and EA apart anymore. They've finally merged into one with the same corporate value at their core.....$

Same issue. This is a story, not a run and gun FPS. :(

I cannot play this game without the Shepard I've known and loved for 5 years.

Not that EA/BioWare cares, they've been paid.

That Shepard died at the start of ME2 and BioWare made a great game don't like it to bad.

So ME3's metacritic user rating is around 2-5/10, seems like a good % of that is down to this issue

It's mainly down to homophobic people complaining about the inclusion of a gay Shep and the ending. Sadly enough, most these people haven't even played the game

I can understand the objections people are having with the import glitch. I myself was a little disappointed when I had to remake my character from scratch. I made the face almost like my ME1, ME2 characters but there is a difference. I want to complete the game with MY Shepard.

On the flip side, I want to finish the game...the face isn't all that important when it comes to finishing this series. If and when they patch this glitch, I'll reimport my game and do it all over again.

It's one small glitch, and glitches happen. The game is still there....

to all the people who say they don't understand how not having your shep face is such a big deal, your imagination must be broken

The game, hell the series, isn't worth its salt if who and what my Shepard is doesn't carry over. The choices I've made and the way Shepard looks are integral to my enjoyment of the games. If he isn't the same, it isn't my Shepard. His look and his choices are a package deal that make up how I perceive Shepard. I won't play this game until there is a fix, and if it's too complicated to offer a satisfactory solution...well then I guess I'll never know how Shepard saves the day.

The importance of this issue being fixed (at least personally) cannot be understated.

Just adding my 2cents.

Windows 7 x64
Radeon HD 6950
4GB ram

custom face created in PC version of ME1 that was imported as-is into ME2 fails to import the face in ME3.

Just adding my complaint to the already long list

This is kind of weird. Even though it said my character's appearance couldn't be imported and the creation screen was giving me what looked like an entirely different character, the Shepard I saw when the game started looked very similar to the one I remember.

However, there is A LOT of inconsistency with how Shepard (and other characters) look depending on how far away they are, how they have their heads turned, etc. One second, my Shepard looks like the princess I remember, and the other, it looks like she used Elmer's glue for makeup and her complexion is completely ****ed up.

I don't know what they did to the facial system, but things can look like complete ass at times.

The fact is i have been waiting night and day for ME3 counting down the years and days trying to find other less interesting games to play which do not hold interest while waiting for ME3. So to some it might seem like a small thing but to those like my self who crave and need that custom shep its a very big deal. That is what the game was made for YOUR shep YOUR appearance Your decisions that affect the serious in a whole. And for players who only got ME3 go play and have fun enjoy yourself not like you need to be on here anyway lol.

Oh, and the sad thing is...how the HELL are they going to patch this? It's clear that the new appearance system is completely inconsistent with the older ones. The same hairstyles, etc., simply DO NOT EXIST.

I just remember this thread (Warning Minor Spoiler like the title of the thread said) and thought "maybe they wanted that the players don't import theirs saves during the first time they play ME3 just to have time to fix the import system"... but that thought is probably just as much crazy than the idea of Mr Priestly when he create that thread.

In any case i hope they can fix it soon (and i said "soon", not "Bioware soon"...) even though i will probably do a first run with a shep who have the sheploo face, i want to play with every shep i created over the years and see the end of theirs story without passing three hours on the Character Creation System just to have a look-a-like of my character.

To all the people who are saying "it's just one small glitch", it's a very large glitch. A serious bug because it's a main feature of the Mass Effect series.

...and it's not just one glitch. Play the game. It's full of glitches.

I'm seriously curious about their QA

lmao oh wow, SO glad I didn't give Bioware one penny for this game. Absolutely pathetic, how could they screw up something so basic and yet so important? Bioware quality, folks. Bioware quality.

The same as they did with ME2, they don't run your ME1 Shep through the CC they just bring the whole head-model into the the next game as is. The fact that it exists in the game as an animated VI shows the tools are in the game! lol

This. I've been saying that since I heard about the VI - my guess is the problem occurs because the game doesn't give you the option to bypass the customization screen. It has to load it, at least temporarily, but if it can't find slider settings for the imported face, it fails to load at all. If that's true, it SHOULD actually be at least -somewhat- simple to throw a quick fix together. And I don't think any of us care if it's pretty - the code for this fix could look like it was written by Frankenstein, while drunk - we wouldn't know, and wouldn't mind even if we did. They could implement a more thoroughly documented version in the first actual patch - all we really want right now is a hotfix to resolve this issue, so we can get to playing the game.
