Thanks for asking the ME twitter, guys.

Billy Buskell/Ehlien replied to my tweet:
"you can definitely import your Mass Effect 2 Commander Shepard into Mass Effect 3 :-)"

I guess that means a ME1 Shepard that has been imported into ME2, should work in 3... right?!

Did you ask about ME1? Because we know ME2 shep codes import. That doesn't really give any clarity at all.

I figured out a work around. It's a pain, but it works, just read a few posts up. Either my solution or the livejournal one should make it 100% sure that we get our Shep faces in ME3.

I sent him a link to this thread, and asked if he'd "mind taking a look at this?"

I'd still suggest trying one of the work arounds. Just in case. They
can't really say too much on twitter so I never quite trust it.

I refuse. Importing your face has to work.

I tend to go back and forth between maleshep and femshep. In the demo the classic femshep was def "off". The male seemed to be alright however. If there is an issue with this, I'm sure it will be resolved or a user fix in place quite quickly. Tdlr: If there is an issue like this, it will be fixed quickly.

ME1 faces were kinda fugly anyways and it feels like we were forced to keep them throughout the series even with updated graphics just for the sake of continuity. I wish they would have added more presets and options in ME2 for those who were not importing from ME1.

I usually roll with the default male Shep appearance anyways. I was never able to make a custom face that didn't look strange to me while playing.

All my Sheps are imports from 1, keeping their faces, so I'll be very, very disappointed if they don't work right in 3...

Hello all. This information may be a bit out of date now but after lurking in this thread I asked @masseffect and this is what they told me. Make what you will of it.

twitter.com/#!/TheSeanR/status/174650648158146560

I tried to make the question as direct as I could in 150 characters. I don't know who runs that twitter account or how intimate their knowledge of ME3 really is, but I took that as an officail confirmation of ME1 faces importing into ME3.

I hope someone from Bioware comes in here and can give us an answer. I'd really hate to think that they would sacrifice custom faces at the feet of a few extra hairstyles.

You will be able to import your faces, but you will also have the option to customize further.

I really don't understand this message. It sounded fine until "customise further." I mean... you can't customise a ME1 face because it uses a different system, no? That's why if we import a ME1 face into ME2, it's "accept it as it is or make a new one," which should be the same in ME3. Unless ME3 can parse your ME1 face and remake it into an ME3 face code, but I'm sorry I'll believe that when I see it >_< It's far more likely there's a misunderstanding here imho. Such a feature would've been talked about I believe, since it's a non-spoiler thing to brag about that will bring lots of convinience to the players.

I guess the twitter replies is as close to a confirmation as we'll get. Let's hope they're right.

Still though, I won't let the thread die until we get a yes/no..

I've noticed if you import face from ME1 to ME2 and use the creation code of that face in new game, the face in new game looks diffrently than imported one (different hairstyle, skin tone etc.). Maybe that's the problem.ME3 probably recognize face code as the code of ME2 face instead of ME1 face.

You get no face code for a face imported from ME1 to ME2. Any code you might in the files find using savegame editors are default codes which do not correspond to the actual face.

You can create a face using the ME2 character creator that matches the one you imported from ME1 down to the last pixel. One fact to keep in mind is that if you import an ME1 face into the ME2 CC, the imported face will stay available for checking against the newly created one until you confirm the new one. Still, to recreate a face precisely, you will probably need Fraps and a picture viewer.

Anyway, what this means is that you can remake your ME1 face precisely in ME2, then proceed to import it into ME3 for further customization. One complete remake will be necessary, but once you know how, it isn't that hard.

I'm on 360, doing that sounds like bollocks X_X Moreover, it shouldn't be necessary.

EDIT: Thanks for informing anyhow though. Worse comes to worse, I'll do just that =)

I doubt it'll be a problem for most people, to be honest. I'm hoping that it's just some weird one time glitch.

If they would just give us a damn yes/no answer already, there would be no need for a thread like this. Again, the silence worries me.

As far as I can tell it's confirmation that not only will a face from ME1-through 2 into 3 work, but you can then tweak it if you want. It's as close to a confirmation as we've gotten. I'd prefer if someone from 'round these parts stripped away all doubt though. People are saying it's "just" a face, yeah it's the face of what many of us consider the "real" Shepard, our Shepard.

I understand that they are on break. But you think one of the devs during development would go, "Hey Joe my Shep i made in ME1 aint working in ME3" Honestly its pretty easy to catch... I would be very surprised if Bioware didn't catch this
