My Femsheps imported nearly perfectly. Just some minor tweaking to make things look great with the new gen.

None of the males imported well.

Nothing looked even remotely close when I copied the ME3 codes into ME2... much scarier.

So you're playing the actual game and these are characters started from ME1?

ME3 importer works with raw data (as far as I know) so the face code is irrelevant.

Can you please explain what you mean by raw data?

ME2 does not use face code to generate the look. You can wipe clean your characters face code or change it to what ever you want but it will not change the look. The game stores all head detail in save file and it is completely separate thing from face code. The face code has no other use than to be human friendly. For example when the game determines what hair the Shepard uses, it will look at hair mesh string that is stored in the save game which in my Shepard's case is BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.classy.HMF_HIR_Cls_MDL.

I'm off to bed. Thank you again, for keeping the thread on the first page. If any of you, or anyone you know, gets the game early, make sure to ask them about this! It's super important! If anything important comes up, feel free to PM me, and I'll add the info to the OP.

I hope that bioware is looking into it, and if needed making a patch

Interesting............... I think that explains why my Shepards nose from ME1 imports correctly into ME2, but can not be selected during charecter creation in ME 2 when starting from scratch.  If that's the case then we should be fine barring any further catastrophe.

I've tweeted this to them multiple times now:

@masseffect Owners of space edition 360 can't import faces from ME2 saves with ME1 face codes. Will this be resolved for launch?

It's been ignored every time.

This femshep does not have a face code in ME2.  I imported her into the demo using http://masseffecttoo...k.org/index.php.  It works w/ PC and X-Box, though X-Box will require extra steps. This is a work-around, not a solution, but it will give you a face code to use in ME3.

How to use it: http://social.biowar...47811/3#9249327

Note: Both femshep and maleShep will require tweaking.  You'll have to redo the hair, hair color, eye color, skin complextion and (if femshep) makeup. Everything else imports perfectly.

edit: Looks like the situation has been resolved by axelofthekey.

One question, I am trying to import a broShep. On step 8) Go to this page, follow the instructions, and prepare to do some math. Go to what page?

I wish I could use that method. Modio keeps crashing every time I try to open it. Guess I'll just do it the hard way :-/.

Bump so that maybe someone from Bioware can throw us a bone and answer one way or the other. Speaking for myself, this is pretty important.

Me to, my mind can't retcon anything so I would be unable to deal with my Shep's Changed face :(

I know. I've played Mass Effect 1 and 2 to completion a combined total of 12 times. I've only ever played as ONE Shep. As far as I'm concerned, my Shepard is the only true Shepard. I've tried recreating him in the ME3 demo using memory and then some crummy cell phone pictures and, although I can get it kind of close, its just not Shepard.

Somehow I can't imagine how something like this could fall though the cracks. The folks at Bioware must of been cognizant of how attached we've become to our Sheps. I simply cannot believe they would allow for something like this to potentially happen

Did that come from a retail copy (assuming you were lucky enough to get your hands on it) or was that recreated in the demo?
