You can't import a face created in Mass Effect 1 into 3! Bioware has responded! (See OP)

I can understand Chris and the other mods being busy at the moment. There's a lot going on. It's just that, silence has never been a good sign when it comes to Bioware stuff. And the fact that Chris replied in a thread, asking if modded savegames from 2, would work in ME3, makes me even more sad. And maybe it's just all of us, who sucks major backend at asking questions on twitter, but all of the answers on there has been pretty vague too.KiddDaBeauty wrote...
I wonder how huge a pile of messages Chris's inbox is carrying. He didn't get back to me so far, at least =)
I honestly doubt Bioware would let a glitch like that slip through, and apart from the guy(s?) with the space copies, there is no proof that the glitch is actually there. I, and many others, just really want to be sure! Please, put our worries to rest

They're doing a pretty good job as is, tbqh. I can sit around perusing BSN mere days before the launch, with early copies handed out, people openly discussing the freaking ending on this very forum yet I see no spoilers in this spoiler free area. I wonder just how overworked they feel though =DThe PLC wrote...

But yes, I'm all aware of silence. It's a bad sign. Though, more than anything, it's also what makes you think there is something to hide even if there is not.
How many reports do we have of ME1 faces not showing up btw? Just one? Or was there more?

Yeah I wagered as much. But still, you've been so worried about this topic for so long, I'm begining to worry for you.
I think it'll be alright one way or the other, not much anyone could do about it anymore now. But this being such a big oversight I doubt it could be real. Aside from that point mentioned about a default face code being overwritten on a ME1 Shepard's headmorph, I see no real issue tecnologically.
So relax, take a minute, have a seat. Somethin's gonna happen earliest as the 6th.

The reason I'm even bothering with a thread about this, and for so long, is because it's pretty much my only worry for the game at this point. It looks AMAZING, but a this whole face thing bugs the crap out of me. We've already reached 19 pages, so I might as well kep going until the americans get the game, and someone will end this once and for all.Imortalfalcon wrote...

I've only heard of the issue from the guy with the space copy in the spoiler group. Someone else in here mentioned another person with the same issues, but he never gave us a link.KiddDaBeauty wrote...

Well, let me tell you this; if this issue hasn't been officially denied or confirmed in a more direct statement than what was already mentioned before the 6th, as soon as I get home right after midnight, I'll send you a PM of what happens when I try to import my Shepard.
That way you'll find out a small amount ahead of time, provided you don't get your copy before me, that is.

Hopefully that means it was just a bit of corrupt code in the save file. This isn't something that should get past QA. Has the guy who got this detailed what error came up?

Oh, I'm European so I'll get the game on the 9th. But thanks! That sounds good.
It's the least I could do. I definitely know where you're coming from and it isn't fun to be in the dark about. There's a certain "authanticity" to the game if everything gets imported correctly, and anything less and it's not exactly quite right.
That's what I dislike about certain games that let you customize characters but don't feature importing them to the sequel. Saints Row 3 for example: I was able to create my character from 2 over on 3, because the character code still functioned to a degree, but it didn't feel like I was the same character. It wasn't authentic enough.
Hopefully you'll get an answer, but if not before I'm up on the block, I'll let ya know. So find some manner of peace in that at least

Not as far as I remember. He said that some error popped up on screen, and he then had to create a new face for his Shepard.Paul Sedgmore wrote...

They eye related "improvements" and hair styles make Shepards look a bit different in ME3. I can't say that *I see much difference between ME1 and ME3 versions by the way.S Seraff wrote...

I know exactly what you mean. It's likely also a big part of why I feel my two Shepards who came through Genesis aren't as "legit" as the other four. Picking decisions in a comic and then designing a face just isn't the same. Well, it's related, I think =) Even if I could replicate something perfectly, it's still not quite rightImortalfalcon wrote...

Indeed. And the time you spend trying to make your Shep look like he/she used to, could be spent actually playing the game.KiddDaBeauty wrote...

I'm at least happy I could recreate my Shep. In fact I like him so much I might just use him even if my shep does import...Though i got lucky and put alot of effort into it. It should not be necessary to do this.KiddDaBeauty wrote...

Now, imagine if they said: "Sorry, but when you import a custom Shepard firstly created on Mass Effect 1 the face won't load correctly. You will have to use the default face or create another one from scratch."...

it's really in the femshep eyes - especially her RIGHT eye - it droops on out the outside now. that aside, the graphics for ME3 ARE closer to photo quality, it's just she looks a bit of now. more than normal, because i DESIGNED her to look a bit off to begin with
anyway - bump!

Don't just PM! Tell the whole thread! I'll be biting my nails wondering while I wait for my Amazon shipment. I've recreated my main shep as best I can but it's just not the same. His whole chin/jaw line is from a face morph that was removed in ME2 so I can't get it right and it's really eating away at me.
