This is a big issue for me also because I have become really attached to my favourite/canon shep. I'v tried a bunch of times to re-create my shep in the ME3 demo. Cannot do it. Always looks way too different. His face better import properly or I am going to be majorly disappointed in at the start of the damn game... It just won't feel like MY shepard atall.

Been staying off the forums to avoid spoilers but I'll bookmark this thread and check back when Its out for you lot over in the states.

Hopefully that means it was just a bit of corrupt code in the save file. This isn't something that should get past QA. Has the guy who got this detailed what error came up?

Not as far as I remember. He said that some error popped up on screen, and he then had to create a new face for his Shepard.

That sounds like a problem with his save file to me.

Of course they won't respond because this is (probably) true. If it were not, they would just say "Yes, you can import without problems all your Shepards from Mass Effect 1 that were imported into Mass Effect 2 and completed said games." Such response would end the question without any sort of uproar.

Now, imagine if they said: "Sorry, but when you import a custom Shepard firstly created on Mass Effect 1 the face won't load correctly. You will have to use the default face or create another one from scratch."...

developers have stated repeatedly that we can over the past few months...why would saying again now matter if no one beleives them anyway

Because months ago no one had the game and actually experience this issue. Now we have a user from the Spoiler group and a user from the something awful forums who COULD NOT do the bolded bit above,. yet the devs are not responding to the issue. Not on twitter, not on forums posts or forum messages.

They did however respond to a message about gibbed editor character saves that only had 3 pages.

We've got 20 now and no word....that's highly suspect.

I'd also like to include that by at the time both users made it know they had an issue,. only 4 of the space launches had happened, which means of the Xbox 360 copies out at the time, a large percentage of them were not able to import ME2 saves with ME1 face information.

So we have 2 confirmed attempts to import an ME1 face that aren't working - correct?

Are there any confirmed cases of an ME1 created face importing properly?

You guys might just want to wait until launch. Answering this question seems to be too difficult for people. And it is hard to believe in answers that are vague or not straightforward.

I'm just going to wait until launch, March 6th. I'll be picking up my copy at midnight PST in the U.S.
I'll post my outcome when I import my save for people that are still waiting for confirmation.

Correct. I'd like to assume that the rest of the people have not had the issue.

How many is that?

Yeah we have what, some 16 or so copies out there? Out of them, 2 have reported issues. That's 1/8. 7/8 have not said that everything worked (afaik any way), rather they're just quiet. For all we know they may not even have tried.

Some of them are PS3 copies though. I guess all the others are too busy actually playing the game.

Like PLC said, some are PS3 which never had ME1 to begin with.

It's strictly xbox copies this issue is with, so the amount of people having that issue could be 2 out of 4, 2 out of 13, we don't know how many of each type were handed out.

Well, Bioware could just, you know, give us a straight answer. Then we would all shut up, and stop bumping this thread to the front page :bandit:

historic videogame fail in the making if true. why no comment from bioware?
...cause failing to respond to fans' concerns has earned bethesda so much love.

RIP original Jordan Shepard, 3/6/12. You survived the battle of the citadel and assault on the collector base, but couldn't overcome the ME:3 character creator.

Wow, still no comment?

I can't believe more people aren't concerned about this.

Yeah. Not the reaction you would expect from a community that cares so much about immersion. Not hating or anything, just saying.

The evidence that this is an actual problem seems a little weak to me.  And even if it is a problem, it'll likely be patched by the time I get the game.

edit: but still, there's a free bump for you.

If there really was no problem, you'd think that Bioware would have told us to shut up already. I think that's what worries people at this point.

And thanks for the bump ^_^

People.

Do you think that if I/we contacted some of the review sites with a link to this thread, that they would be able to answer this? Or does the review embargo completely stop them from talking about the game?
Some of you also mentioned that you may be getting the game this weekend. So of course, we could just wait a day or two.

Contacting reviewers who used the 360 version could work. They can't give you spoilers but I'm sure they could comment on bugs.
