Well... ME3 demo CC was incomplete so it's no wonder if you get wonky results.

I really, really hope that is the case. But the way things are going I'm not counting on that kind of luck.

So to make myself feel better, I'm going to go watch the launch trailer again.

edit:

Garrus: Go out there and give them hell. You were born to do this.

Totally ****ing worked, I am hyped again.

My scenario: I imported my Xbox 360 ME1 character into ME2 and then edited her face slightly. I no longer have ME2, so does anybody know if this would have given me the correct face code and allow me to avoid the straight ME1 > ME2 > ME3 import errors people are talking about?

I assume I have nothing to worry about if I have the face code?

Because even if I don't know the face code, surely I could boot up ME2, load a previous save with that Shepard, grab the face code from the pause menu (powers screen), then copy-paste it into ME3. Right?

Yeah but if you imported from ME1 then you won't have a face code.

Only if you have one. If you directly imported from ME1, you may not.

I'm pretty sure a day 1 patch has been confirmed. What it fixes, we have no idea, so there is still hope that Tuesday won't be a complete ragefest.

Pretty sure? If it was said in the forums by a developer somewhere, please share it.

we can still tweek the face though - it does not flat out reject the import.

That's kind of the point, though. If you imported direct from ME1 to ME2, you can't import that face into ME3. That's what this thread is about. It's not an issue of being able to reject the import.

really? thats..pretty unpleasing news..:crying:
 disapointed in bioware now..

Good thing I made some itty-bitty changes to my import in ME2.
Nothing too special: a new tan, changed his mustache to a 'stache-beard combo, and reduced his mouth depth. Just enough to give him a new code, but with the same look.

ME2 and 3 have an entirely different CC system then ME1 did (ME1 had facemorphs, ME2 and 3 use facecodes).  What it seems to be is that only facecodes will transfer to ME3.

To me, this seems like they were focusing solely on pleasing their PS3 audience with this game, and focusing more on that than the other two.  Since that's the only way this could happen, since if they had kept it PC/Xbox there's NO way they wouldn't work around this.

See, it sounded to me like just the opposite. Like ME3 would be based on face morphs. That's why the codes come out looking different sometimes.

Ppl having problems getting their "true" Shep look in the demo w/ a face code, is, imo, premature worrying. You weren't supposed to be able to transfer your Shep into the demo anyway. It wasn't built for that.

The real gist is why is this guy having problems w/ a supposedly simply transfer from import ME1-ME2-ME3 on his Xbox in a real game?

Maybe he's doing something wrong. Modded it at some point. He keeps saying he got an Error msg.? Not just a wonky looking Shepard, but an actual error msg....

Idk wth this guy is talking about. Maybe he's an idiot. oops, I mean, goof...

Facecodes only appear if the ME2 CC was used, even for tweaking. ME1 used a different, hidden code system; which is incompatible with ME3, by the sounds of it.

Ok, its a good thing i used that thread in the OP to recreate my main shep already, with some tweaking, it turned out fine.

How did you guys do that? I thought we couldn't tweak our Sheps when we imported from ME1 to ME2? Cuz my Shep came out w/ crazy spider massara eye lashes and clown rouge...ack.

Yeah, I can definitely see this turning into a storm in a couple days. Thanks, BioWare. <_<

Recreated him in the CC from an import. I started from scratch, but periodically switched to "Use Import" to get a template. I took a good hour, but I managed to perfectly recreate him.
When importing a ME1 to 2, you can use the CC, but you have to start from scratch, which kinda sucks.

Does this concern the 360 version too?

So answer me this question: If I imported my ME1 face into ME2, without doing any changes after in the Lazarus Project, is it 100% sure that it won't be possible to import the face?

That's pretty good. It's hard to perfectly recreate something like that. Shepard's have a tendency to look similar alot, but there are those tiny differences that can be sooo difficult to excatly recreate. The setting of the eyes--the spacing. The NOSE...the nose wwas always hardest for me. These lil things make up Your Shep.

A face you've been thru alot w/. I'm not too worried tho. I think it'll be fine. Because really I can't imagine BW not thinking of this. I really can't. lol

hopefully it'll convince them to make a patch. : I can't believe they would overlook this. I'm holding onto a small amount hope that either a patch is already coming or the real retail versions will not be like the space editions.. lol.

Birudojin's comment's date is Oct 07, 2010. If they didn't repair it so far, they won't till tuesday...

Look closer: that's a join date.

Ack so in playing around with my save files this morning trying to get a face code for my ME2 shepard, i.e. I imported my ME2 save game into a new ME2 game but quit out during the character creation when I realised I couldn't just make small changes and get a code, I have somehow managed to corrupt all of my DLC and cannot load any of my save games. Now it's told me to delete everything and re-download a few gigs worth of data. Hopefully this'll work but if I've somehow messed up my save file and can't import at all I will kick myself.

Will not. Though, swapping between imported and new in CC is pretty handy way to get face code.
