A guy on GameFAQs is playing the game early (It's legit, they're giving non-spoilery but interesting and specific info from the game, plus his gamertag show it under his recent activity and he's already unlocked some achievements: http://live.xbox.com...tag=HalcyonJedi )

He said:

The character I imported was the same Shepard I started back in ME1 and the import worked just fine.

and also

Yes ME1 -> ME2 -> ME3 was just fine, I can't vouch for the other variations

awesome! thank you. I've been avoiding spoilers so I hadn't looked into stuff like that.

So, I went to the demo to remake my Shepard, and am quite pleased with my results, and now it turns out you can import the face after all? Tsk.

I, on the other hand, used the workaround method by obtaining codes from the save files. Of the four Sheps I'd imported from ME1 to ME2, none of the codes gave me anything like they should have. So I'm desperately hoping ME3 WILL import them all without any trouble.

Seems as though we will be able to (THANK THE MAKER!!).  I was the one who asked HalcyonJedi on gamefaqs about this; I feel special. :P

If true, best ME news I've heard all day - fingers crossed.

I sent this Tweet (in three parts) to @bioware @masseffect @BioEvilChris @CaseyDHudson at 16:17 GMT today and not one of them responded.

I'm hearing if you kept the same face in ME2 that you imported from ME1 then it wont import. into Mass Effect 3 and you have to try and recreate it. I'll be sad if true because I've. kept the same face for countless plays through both ME 1+2. Hopefully this isn't true.

Has bioware bothered to publicly comment on this issue yet? Not being able to import my Shep's face from 1/2 into 3 is a huge deal.

I was actually wondering that myself but decided not to post that since I already feel like I'm being nitpicky, but since you bring it up.  Has anyone confirmed that this guy actually has a custom Shep?  We already know that the history imports.

It's a big thing for me if it turns out to be true.

Cool, so we got more evidence and more varied evidence and it looks we should be fine after all. You don't want to work off a small sample like the said. We'll see in a couple days, and then you also have the patch rumors too.

It depends on your custom Shepard. Some codes imported into the demo just fine. My main didn't though. It's certain features that are missing altogether. If your Shepard didn't use the ones missing from the demo, you should be fine. Those of us who used several of the missing features will most likely get this error message when we try.

I don't really care since I change my shepards appearance every mass effect, for realism purposes (come on, you wont look the same in mass effect 2 as you did in mass effect after being thrown to a planet orbit and frying to death landing on cold stone planet, no matter how good the lazarus project was, that's just silly). I changed his face in mass effect 2 (rebuilt him from scratch), that generated a code, that I will use in mass effect 3, and I'll change his appearance slightly.

It pays to have a good imagination.

They rebuilt you in Mass Effect 2 exactly as you were. At least according to what Jacob and Miranda tell you.

So why would it be odd or lack imagination to stick with the same face.

Again, imagination. Yes they rebuild you exactly as you were, and this may surprise you, but people's appeareance change over time. Your hair grows, you get older, etc. It would be silly to expect shepard to look the same as he did 2 years ago, specially after he basically got destroyed.

Most of the changes I did to my shepard were a simple change of hair, but I also tweaked a few things I didn't like about my past shepard, allthought it's barely noticable.

I had blonde curly hair when I was a kid. Now I'm as bald as a coot. So I am well aware that people change.

However two years is not a great time of change for an adult of Shepard's age and certainly not when they've been rebuilt to look exactly as they were.

I appreciate that for your Shepard the look has changed but for mine the look has remained consistant.
