You can't import a face created in Mass Effect 1 into 3! Bioware has responded! (See OP)

Seems like a fairly easy and simple solution to me.

As this is a quite long thread, has it not been verified if you can simply write down the number code of your ME2 face, and simply find that face in ME3 and replicate it, even if a direct import may not work?

Point is that you shouldn't have to do that if you want the face you had before.

The problem is if you didn't alter the face you imported from ME1 in ME2 then you don't have a face code to write down.Ultenth wrote...

I guarantee they have seen this thread, posting inflammatory comments will only get it shut down. if they have seen this and are just being silent then thats a bad sign
We don't need to turn into trolls, we just need to keep bumping this and other threads related to this topic. That should drive the point home.

It was a joke (albeit a bad one =P) but whateves. I just wish someone would say something about it, you know, before the game comes out. Then maybe it won't catch everybody by surprise.

The problem is if you created your face in Mass Effect 1, theres no face code to write down. Anywhere. Direct ME imported faces did not generate face codes.
And you can't import your ME face and edit it to generate an ME2 face code.
So..yeah. This is a pretty big issue. And BioWare shouldn't be pulling the ostrich routine on it. They should at least tell us why this could even be a problem in a game that had a release date delay.

It will save you a lot of time come release day at least cause you'll just be able to cut and paste the code into the code slot for ME3.

The only thing I can recommend is starting a NEW ME2 game right now, building your ME1 face as closely as possible and saving that face code to a text file on your desktop.

But then the question is will the ME3 CC replicate the face exactly after putting in the code. Going just by the demo, it does not seem to be the case.

EDIT: I think his was Mass Effect 1 --> Mass Effect 2 --> Mass Effect 3 too.

But the ME3 demo aleast tend to mess upp ME2 face codes badly many times...

Ok, that "Team Vegas" did a Q&A, and they said they could import his character fine, and edit it while not starting over.
If that is true, and obviously we hope it is then why didn't someone just come in here and say something.
It's just weird at this point.

It might be because not all the options are available in the demo.Tugga_gott wrote...

I dont' think this is a clear cut issue. We have had multiple reliable sources say both. That you can import, and that you can't import.
So from this, we can assume there are issues. However we just don't know what parameters cause the issue. One man, (pikachu something or other) just confirmed he couldn't import his character's face.

To do this I needed to:
1. start a new ME2 game by re-importing the character
2. 15 minutes later, at the lazarus base, save the game to a USB.
3. mess around with the files on the USB using the instructions on the link in the OP in order to get a facecode.
4. start a new ME2 game by re-importing the character (again)
5. 15 minutes later, at the face-gen screen, enter this face code to get a (hopefully) close approximation of the Shep.
6. Go back and forth between custom and import options, tweaking until they match.
7. Get new tweaked facecode
8. Enter new tweaked facecode in ME3 demo
9. Tweak AGAIN to replace missing/different parts.
10. Get even NEWER facecode ready to enter into ME3 proper.
11. ???
12. Profit.
What a pain in the backside. Steps 4-7 were necessary because putting the codes taken from the saves straight into ME3 gave horrendous results.

Yeah I just read that thread, very disturbing. I'll be very pissed off if I can't import my canon Shep.
Why are people talking about a supposed day one patch?

Exactly I'm not going to want to take 45 minutes to an hour trying to recreate a face I've used for five years when I'm desperate to play the third entry into the series. The PLC wrote...
I'm not going to do all that, just because BW got lazy during development.
Sadly judging my Bioware's silence, though to be fair it is the weekend, I expect I'm going to have no other choice.

I was about to post the same thing, I'll be damned if I'm doing all that just to gloss over a possible amazingly bad piece of development.

yeah voteDC, imagine people like me who have 30 characters, having to spend all that time fixing up our shepards.
Remaking one Shepard is bad enough but 30!
