I'm expecting the worst at this point.

I'm expecting never to be able to import a ME1 face
I'm expecting them never to patch it
I'm expecting Bioware to continue to lie about everything.

That's the spirit! Now go out there and let 'em have it!

I can't get my character right either.

As many people have posted it may seem a small thing but it's incredibly jarring when you have spent so long playing your character across 2 games to be suddenly faced with a stranger. I just can't connect with the character in the demo at all, it may be a Commander Shepard but it's not my Commander Sheppard ;(

I'm not worried. I'll just remake the face if I have to. Even from the demo, all the pieces I need are there, and that might not be all the stuff available. I'll just load up ME2, take a pic of it, and make it match in ME3 when I get the game.

Let's hope this day one patch is real and works. I just cannot understand why this hasn't been in any way addressed by now.

Because obviously they're aware of the problem and are afraid of the backlash. Which is hilarious, they're scared they're going to lose sales by answering a simple yes or no question.

I guess they are going to wait until wednesday when this thread or some other thread about this topic reaches 500 pages of rage and bickering to address it.

500 is being generous. We're looking at 750 at the least.

Yeah the silence is an answer in and of itself at this point. Surely saying something curbs the backlash better than ignoring it and pretending it's not happening, but maybe that's just common sense. I wouldn't even say many of us are angry, just confused and curious as to the vaildity of certain claims being made.

I can get close in remaking my character, very close, but there is something off about the way they look, as if they are made out of plastic.

My Shepards look like mannequins in the ME3 demo. Not so much in ME2, or even 1.

Tweeting at https://twitter.com/#!/PWatamaniuk is our only hope. God knows if he'll respond though.

I tried to redesign my Shepard in the demo (with the help of the workaround mentionend in the first post), but my Shepard looks terrible.

So he should look like:

If it was possible to export the ME1 face into ME2 it must be possible to export the ME1 face into ME3. I have the ME1 savegame still on my hard drive.

This.  I'm not getting my hopes up for anything.  And I certainly have no plans to give Bioware my money after this game lol

My Shepard looks ok in the Mass Effect 2 CC but when put into the demo of ME3 that's when the mannequin look kicks in.

Oops, yeah that's what I meant to say. ME2 looks relatively lively, while my ME3...

I put a picture of my ME2 Shep next to my ME3 Shep and asked my mom which one she thought was newer. She guessed the ME2.

5 days and 52 pages. Bioware you're amazing, you're like that ex who will just do anything to ignore and frustrate us.

To keep this thread alive I am going to go ahead and state that even
just ME2 generated faces are not going to come out perfectly.

While ME1 Shepards will require a full rebuild, ME2 facecode imports are turning up notably imperfect results as well.

I took the this femshep off Masseffectsaves.com:

Posted Image

Directly inputted the face code into the ME3 Demo, and the resulting differences are pretty obvious.

Posted Image

One
to the other they appear to be very similar, but they're not exact, the
lips are wrong, the eyes are different, the make up is missing. The
jaw/chin line are wrong.

So its not just ME faces, its ME2 faces
as well. The Chargen system in ME3 is not functionally compatible with
its predecessors and the fact that BioWare has no answer as to why, one
day before release, is astonishing.

The thread (title) has dashed, raised, then dashed my hopes again regarding importing faces from ME1. I didn't realize that I was actually pretty attached to how Shepard looks...

People who imported and accepted custom faces into ME2 can't be a negligible amount of players, so I have to assume that BioWare will respond (w/ or w/o a solution) at some point.

Again, you're wrong. This has NOTHING TO DO WITH FACE CODES.

The two functions operate on different systems. The only time the game uses face codes if during CC for human ease of use. Import uses raw data from save files that do not correspond to face codes. We've gone about 20 pages with this misinformation starting up again, let's keep it that way.

If Bioware would give an official response it would clear up a lot of these rumors. All we're hearing is speculation and most of us don't do anything like coding video games.

1. It's not specualtion. We have confirmed reports from multiple people who are playing the game.
2. People who modded the game for a work around have discussed how the game does not use facecodes, again we have that on first hand accounts by people working on modding their games. If you have edited your facecode via the solutions listed on the OP then you'll see that facecodes having nothing to do with it.

ETA: Just realized I'm talking to you across two threads heh. You're welcome for the info. I'm pretty bummed too. I've got 10 saves from ME1 :-/
