@masseffect Before I can #TakeEarthBack , will I have to recreate my ME1 Shepard's face?

@commanderorgia If you are importing a save over you will be able to import the appearance over.

More likely a salt lick cause its already been shown that this won't happen. At least on the PS3 version.

Sigh, and here I was hoping to play through ME3 in a single sitting on day 1. However after hearing about this issue on top of all the others, I most likely will NOT play this game, but instead get it, and then wait half a year or however long it takes for them to fix the damn game.

I don't care if it says "Mass effect" on the box, If I can't play as my Shepard and continue his story, what is the point of playing the game at all?

Oh, and regarding "making the game accessible to new players": Who the heck do you think make up the majority of people who buy this game Bioware?! If I see that a game is coming out that is the finale to a big triology, even as a newcomer I don't darned plan on starting from the ending, I check out the earlier games and work up from there! Why are you so desperate to get in new players that you end up screwing over your core players with something that should have been one of the very first things you looked into? At least I would assume that when you began programming ME3 the first question would have been "how do we make sure ME2 saves transfer over correctly?"

It is a the flawed nature of business and marketing.
It sucks because gaming should be considered  art over anything else.

The army of interns they have manning the @masseffect account obviously haven't all read the memo.

Sarcasm? PS3 version doesn't have an import feature from ME1.

Yeah, I honestly hope tomorrow rolls around and I get my copy, and at midnight i'll have no problem importing my shepard. If I do (or anyone does) this place is going to explode with fury.

I think Mr. Pikachu said he was on the PS3 version, I might have misremembered but he directly confirmed that an ME1 imported face had to be rebuilt so he just went with Sheploo.

Now I'm seeing that it's just SOME Shepards that cannot be imported, but how does that make sense?

If you remade your Shepard in the second game the face seemingly imports without trouble.

The problem comes to those who accepted the imported face in Mass Effect 2.

I didn't remake mine because he actually looked better after importing to ME2.

If this doesn't work, we should all class-action lawsuit for false advertising. They said we could import the same Shepard across all three games. If we can't do it in ME3, then that's false advertising, right? Maybe that will wake them up.

i do hope so. just a note at least. "we're working on it guys." like that.
this demographic - the ones who made their own shep and have followed the games through ME1 and ME2 - arguably constitutes the strongest fan base. please dont alienate us BW :(

When did everyone get the idea that you can't import your Shepard had to do with "new customers?" How would someone importing their Shepard's face hamper any new players' games? How would impeding repeat customers from importing their Shepard's face improve a new customer's experience?

If this is true (which I'm not 100% we've got the full story, but not calling BS on it either) then its probably just a bug or an unintended consequence of some coding change or something. Sometimes things get messed up. Its not always a malicious attack on your fun.

The character creator is different, so the faces don't translate. CC is "improved" to win over newcomers. The fact that they've stated in interviews that the third game is a great place for new players to start sickens me to the point of literal vomiting.

Literal vomiting.  Ok I'm out.  You crybabies are just too much.  It is incredible the change in types of people posting in these forums over the past couple of weeks.  BioWare should just close the forums for a week.

I hope they get that fixed. Having to recreate every Shepard's face is going to be annoying.

Think about it, they're starting fresh and haven't experienced the other games with any type of Shepard, so now going into ME3 - everything is new, no worries about how their Shepard will look because... it's brand new to them. Now for us players playing since ME1 and not changing the way we our Shepard looks (for whatever reason, mine would be that I created the best one for myself and didn't need to change it), we're getting this supposed "bug" because we liked the way our ME1 Shep looks? Come on, that's a load of bull****. Did they not consider that fans do use custom Shepard, or was Bioware just thinking of their future fans and not their core ones? I understand that some are able to get their Shepard to work and it some cases, look better, but I and a lot of others aren't able to, which is the main problem.

I wouldn't attack new fans either, it's always great to make a game appeal to larger audience because the Mass Effect universe is amazing, but there's been a lot of stuff in ME3 that seems to cater to new fans instead of their existing fans - Auto-Dialogue/ RPG/Action/Story mode (which I don't mind, just saying), the import issue, even MP (which I love). Also, the fact that we're not getting a response and the game comes out tomorrow at midnight...

I get how it only affects long time fans and doesn't affect new fans.  I don't see how this equates Bioware choosing new fans over old fans since this doesn't really improve a new fan's experience in any way.  There will and/or would have been any new players thinking to themselves, "Golly I really hate how I haven't played the other two games with a Shepard that looks like I want him to and can only play with my Shepard in this one game.  Those other guys who have played the previous two ME games with their own Shepard really buzzes my buttons."

That won't happen.  I'm not saying its not a problem.  I'm just saying its not necessarily a intentional attack on your experience.

I don't know man, the fact that they're not coming out and adressing us with the issue isn't helping either.  I understand what you're saying and I really do believe this is just a huge mess up, but I don't think it should of been in there the first place.

What is this nonsense about a PS3 import not working? ME1 isn't even on PS3.

Can someone please confirm or not confirm this with an actual working copy of the game asap.

Thanks

I DL'd the demo and attempted to remake one my Shepards. He doesn't look the same, but he does look pretty good. I actually really like how he looks. I don't know if the same will hold true for my other two Sheps, but it's worth a try.

The difference is really strange. He looks more realistic now. It's almost as if ME 1&2 were cartoons, and now ME3 is the live action version. But even though I am satisfied with how my Shepard looks, I am still pissed that I even had to bother, and I'm pissed on everyone else's behalf that they have to deal with it as well. It's ridiculous.

Seems like a strange thing to over look, but I have my face code written down so it won't be that big of a deal to me. Very weird that nobody caught that though,
