THIS WILL GET YOU THE RIGHT FACE  just 3 simple quick steps, plus a 4th if you REALLY want to make sure you get the right nose.

It wont even get close in some instances.

Just two of the things it got wrong for my Shepard was taking a white woman with black eye brows and turning her into a black woman with white eyebrows.

Well I used this http://social.biowar...47811/3#9249327
and I got pretty close to my original face. Just had to adjust one value (19 instead of 17) and of course the eye and hair color. But using the ME2 face creator and constantly comparing those two faces (the first one from ME1 and last one I recreated) I am now sure that I have a 99.99% match and, of course, the facial code. Have to wait to test it, but as long as we have solutions like this, I do not see it as such a big problem. Sure, it is annoying and sure, it should work right from the box, but still better to have some solution than none.

Like I said a while back in the thread, if anyone needs help recreating their Shepard, I'm willing for the rest of the night and all day tomorrow up until about 8 pm central.

Just PM me with some screen-grabs of your Shepard's face at all angles. Face code appreciated but not required (Seeing that we are all probably in the same boat of not having one to begin with, myself included).

It says on the results page that it doesnt transfer color data, only shape data.  people are more than hair and skin color you know!!  :()

skin/hair/eyebrows/eyecolor all default to 1 because its not meant to transfer THAT data, that data is also the easiest to set manually.  What ISNT easy to set manually is the gaunt of the cheeks.  :/

I mentioned the colours because that was the most stricking difference.

The eyes, lips and mouth were also off. About the only thing it did get right was the face shape.

That's a kind offer. :)

Nice to see someone willing to help like that.

I personaly don't mind that my character's face needs to be recreated. I would have done it anyhows, as there are new hairstyles and stuff like that and I remember how to create the character's face.

I feel like this is a bug or an error or a mistake of some kind if it is true and not just a misunderstanding. I mean, do we have a video of character creation where it is explicitly shown that they cannot import their previous Shepard wholecloth? Didn't Bioware say that the "renegade scars" would definitely be in?

So yeah, speaking of that enormous day 1 patch... we'll see, I guess. See first, rage later.

Well, renegade scars could be in, considering they're an ME2 feature. ME2 faces do import after all.

Doesn't the scars show up on characters created in ME3 too?

Well, I just used the website, and it actually got extremely close. Like, I can barely tell the difference. So I'm happy. Even if it is bugged, I can have my original Shepard face now =)

No, they're no scars. But I'd figure - also for the sake to tolerate the in-engine changes that transformed my Shepard despite having the perfect and 100% matching facecode - that Shep had a facial reconstruction after ME2 anyways. ^^

Guess there are a lot opportunities to get new ones in ME3, figurative speaking. ^^

Has it been confirmed that the demo doesn't include all of the appearance choices? I've heard that and was kind of wondering why people were creating their "perfect" Shepard in the demo (right?), but maybe I heard wrong?

That's lame, I wanted my scars to carry over.  I hope there will be a mod to put them back on.

What is this Mass Effect 3 Eve hysteria. I don't believe this rumor. I'm holding on the faith that ME3 will import your previous save game (including your personalized Shepard) the same like ME2 did before it.

Has this been confirmed yet? Or is there a chance we should be okay?

I think we'll just have to wait and see, the game unlocks for certain people, soon, so hopefully they will be able to shed some light.

Maybe if everyone in this topic threatened to cancel their pre-order if they DON'T get a response within 12 hours, they'll wander in here and address the issue.

God i hope this is just one of those wild rumours. I have eight customised shepards (some of which i have had for 4 years) and now I might have to rebuild all of them. Keeping your shepard and thier appearance is at the core of ME gameplay and always has been and now this.

I know some people have said to right down slider codes and everything but as I said some of my shepards where created years ago and I was not to know that a couple of days out from release of ME3 you can not import the faces .

I,m hoping its not true!  :?

I'm betting the exact opposite is going to happen. ME3 is going to improve imported personalized Shepard's the same way ME2 did.

I'm gonna play the heart-breaker and say that I'm pretty certain this is legitm as in legitimately broken.

All the hints point into the same direction. Plus there is one point that already hinted towards this from the very beginning: I, like many others, never had a face code in my ME2 character (imported from ME1) to start with.

It should be shown at all times in the upper left corner of your Shepard's Squad screen. It's a 16x4 digit code, it's hard to miss.

If it's not there, then I'm afraid it's only logical ME3 cannot do anything with that save regarding the face!

BTW: I spent 2 hours last night rebuilding my FemShep in ME2 (so that I had the best comparison pic from my previous imported Shepard and for not fighting the ME3 in-engine changes) and it came out pretty good:

s14.directupload.net/images/user/120305/2s6krn8s.gif

First one is the originally imported FemShep and second one ("Manual") the rebuilt one. I used Photoshop and copied a screenshot from the rebuild over a screenshot of the ME1-import over and over again, lined the faces up at top of each other, disabling and enabling the top-layer picture for easy comparison over and over again. Until it was perfect.

So I got my facecode, finally. The import in the ME3 demo looked a bit different, so I tweaked it even further and the final product is cool. It really looks like her, especially ingame.

BUT still it is very obvious how Bioware changed the engine, so differences are unavoidable! They took a risk with this and I sense that the ****storm hasn't even started. Release for Asia and US is today, many people who don't read the forums regularly will find out soon. And then it will hit the fan!

I hope the Day One patch will fix this issue, it says something about import problems.
The patch should be also available for Xbox 360 on launch day I guess.
