I'm betting the exact opposite is going to happen. ME3 is going to improve imported personalized Shepard's the same way ME2 did.

I hope your right man I really do!

Me too. It sucks, but if the day-1 fixes this, that's good enough for me.

BUT still it is very obvious how Bioware changed the engine, so differences are unavoidable! They took a risk with this and I sense that the ****storm hasn't even started. Release for Asia and US is today, many people who don't read the forums regularly will find out soon. And then it will hit the fan!

I think so.
I'm very interested in Mass Effect but heard of the problems only a few days ago. First I thought that it concerns only people that own Mass Effect 1 but not Mass Effect 2.

The fans will be very upset when they found about it this week.

hm... I stalled preorder as long I could, and this is the last day for it to be possible, but I decided not to preorder it in the end. I hope this gets cleared up, my only worry is that not getting the preorder now and buying the DDE after the release will mean it won't include the first day free DLC anymore. Guns and such I care less about than actual characters and quests.

As for personalized faces not going to work as they should, I think the seriousnes of this issue is as much if not more a problem than if decisions and actions wouldn't carry over, after all, editors and such for that already exist and are easier to make than a 3D coded mesh/texture transfer.

Sorry for my ignorance but is there thread or something concerning a day 1 patch and a possible fix. I have really been caught on the hop with this and thats probably why im a bit emotional about it.

Could someone post a link?

Wait what all my Shepards and fem Shepards were made in ME1 then imported into 2. I played a shep for every variation this better not be true. None of mine were the default face. Infact one Sheppard actually has my face.

I actually looked in a mirror and made my face in game.

The hope will certainly die last. It will be blasted to pieces like that Dreadnaught in the ME3 demo and it will hit you hard, throwing you back in your chair and...oh, sorry. :D

Okay, bottom line: You could still take things into your own hand, as of now there are several options:

a) Import your Shepard from ME1 into ME2, take screenshots from front and side, then rebuild him / her in Mass Effect 2! Not ME3, Mass Effect 2. It's easier this way. At last import that face code into the ME3-Demo and tweak it. This way I got my FemShep back.

B) Try using the manual method to reclaim your facecode from an ME1-savegame using this guide: masseffect.livejournal.com/656484.html People reported it works pretty well, but can also take some time and, to be honest, looks pretty stressful to me. ^^

c) Test and support this tool: masseffecttools.99k.org/index.php The author is currently still working on it, but I think it can already be used. I figure you first need to upload your savegame at "Fem Upload" or "Male Upload" and assign a name to it. Then you need to retrieve the facode at "Fem Code" or "Male Code" using that name. In theory at least, I haven't tested it myself.

Face it: Bioware is leaving us alone with this. It is up to us and the community to fix this error. Bioware will never acknowledge what the community does, but we don't need them. :)

I'm probably going to toy with the Demo then if that's the case. Make my Shep again...

Not sure if it's been mentioned here yet, but there's a workaround for this issue. It's hardly ideal and a bit of a pain in the rear, but at least it's something:

http://social.biowar...index/9247811/3

Edit: Ok, same idea as Godzilla posted above

No need to apologize. Just wanted to point it out.

Can't agree. For PC users, there's save game editors. But for console users, it's a lot more trouble. I'd pick accepting that I won't get to keep any faces in ME3 over not getting to keep my decisions any time. Of course, I shouldn't have to pick at all. I'm paying for a cheeseburger, so I intend to be a gruntled customer if I do not get both the burger -and- the cheese.

Your Hawke is gorgeous. I'd ask for the face code if only it was possible =)

Yeah...I guess spreading the word as often as possible and at every opportunity and place is the best way. At least the best way for the fans. I think I've already given up on attracting Biowares attention.

Or maybe they're working hard on their press release for this matter..."damn it, there gotta be an awsome button that fixes that mess!!!"

Well...last night I prepared a few facecodes. Not perfect by any means, but still pretty close.

I still have my fingers crossed that this whole thing is just a misunderstanding and the fault of Bioware's lack of communication with fans.

Sad that community developers are having to fix a game before it even releases because BioWare doesn't think the issue is critical enough to patch for release day.

Well yeah we all played ME2, what the issue is is most of us played ME1 first, and imported to ME2 and ME1 saves that imported to ME2 are reporting as not importing to ME3.

I mean christ if these guys would just take a moment and look at the forums on this issue and explain what they're saying in more than 180 characters, it would save a lot of grief.

It seems like they're completely unaware of people who have the game having problems importing. This is not a good sign.

They can't be unaware of this, they PAY people to catch these kinds of issues. If this kind of day 1 gaffe got through the QA division at any other company, people would be looking for jobs on day 2.

Well, regardless of if importing works or not I'm going to play the game. If i can't import, oh well. I'll join the fire when I'm done the game.

Yeah its not that remaking the face is a gigantic issue (other than the fact that they replaced my 5 year old hair style with a freaking faux hawk) its just that the character import system has made it to day of release and apparently this just...never came up, at all, somehow, in RC testing before the game "went gold."

I love how Stanley Woo was happy to come on the forums and explain what "going gold" means, but has completely hidden in a hole in regards to this issue regardless of how many times this thread has gone critical.

Explain why my face won't work please, and how that was actually allowed to happen when the game "went gold." Mr. Woo.

@njfritz yes, good point. If that occurs, you will be asked to rebuild the face.

here we go.
