You can't import a face created in Mass Effect 1 into 3! Bioware has responded! (See OP)

Compared to the countless possible glitches in games, I find this a small issue. I understand that some people like their face codes, but I just imagine that small tweaks that would be made have a point. Loke mine had a buz cut in 1, shortish forward in 2, and im going with the sorta scruffy shortish in 3. They all have blue eyes and a goatee. They look the same, just mild diferences.

I think it is unfortunate that The ME team has again disregarded those that played Mass Effect...Essentially what they are saying is it is a great place to start the series but a terrible place to conclude the series if you played the first two...sad really...

I guess the fact that everything you've done in the first two games carries over is nothing.

if the charcter you  payed looks nothing like the first two games then yeah sort of...you know, it is kind of immersion breaking...and frankly unacceptable since they could do it from Mass Effect to Mass Effect 2...

It's not like you can't make the character look like the one you made in previous games.

I tried. Its too similar but too different.

I'll be waiting for a patch. I'm not blaming BioWare. Probably just a slip up somewhere. I've trusted them before and won't give up now.

We can, but it is extra work that we shouldn't have to do.

You strike me as the kind of person that puts on a helmet and doesn't much care how your character looks. So, lets just agree that you don't find this as important as other people and call it a day.

That's actually not true at all, I just don't whine about this when I can make Shepard look like the one's I made in the first game. If they took out the ability to make a custom Shepard, then I would understand the level of whining, but that's not what happened.

I can confirm that at least I couldn't import my femsheps face in ME3.

I think you mistake "whining" for attempting to make as much noise as we can so we at least get this acknowledged and explained.

Bioware has 2 options at this point.

1. Say that they are working on/already have worked on a patch to fix the issue
2. Tell us to deal with it.

At this point I could go for either option. I (probably not just me) just need closure.

Making noise on BSN obviously isn't going to accomplish anything. We need to get the word out on other forums. Escapist, neogaf, something awful, gamefaqs, etc. Maybe more press will pick up the story. We won't get a fix, but we'll at least be able to prevent fans from getting the shock of their gaming lives tomorrow.

I would, but I'm stuck at work for another eight hours.

Seriously, the way the multiplayer announcement was handled was bad, the whole "no answers to Origin requirement questions for months" business and how the subject was treated after the confirmation was bad, the silence about the Mordin Solus recast was bad, etc etc.

At the moment they just seem to stay true to a policy of simply ignoring uncomfortable things.

Well seems Chris Priestly is up and about as he just shut down the James Vega thread.

Can we get a lockdown here? Perhaps with a brief explanation that powders our bottoms and gives us our binky?

If the game somehow supported importing raw model data rather than a face code, yes.

Thats the only reason we have to rebuild from scratch. (at least that makes the most sense)

I'll add my voice here to the requests for a Bioware dev to directly comment on the situation. This is not a small thing, the ability to craft and import a character is a central aspect of the series as a whole - it's a selling point for all three games. If this is really the case, and I still can't believe it is - then it feels like false advertising. Finish your Shepard's story? We can't even make it past the import screen.

Easily. The question is...is it going to be.

And the second question is, does it matter? Since your "primary" Shepard is likely to be the first one you run through ME3.

I don't think so, considering the engine is different in comparison to ME 1. I'm not 100% sure on that though,

Well long as it has an answer attached to it, I'm fine with that.

Don't see why not, would have to be a fair size though. I just hope the issue is resolved before the European release (9th March).

Same engine, differing versions. Mass Effect is Unreal Tech 2, ME2/ME3 are Unreal Tech 3.

So the fact that they got it to work from ME1 to ME2 means that it should work going into ME3 too...but it doesn't, cause....pancakes?

Who knows, someone must have noticed this before the RC was certified.

I don't think Chris is coming in.

he ignored my tweet about this thread,
and he ignored my pm.

Yeah.
