Just so I understand this thread clearly:

Folks are having issues importing their Shepards from the previous games using the face codes?
Does this also apply to gameplay choices and flags set from a ME2 import as well, or only the face (the CC issues)?

People are having import issues if they didn't alter their face in Mass Effect 2. That unaltered face isn't being imported into ME3.

Everything else is being imported without trouble.

Bioware doesn't care about ME1-shepards.

Some dude recently said that he transfered his ME1 Shep from ME2 to ME3 with no problem however, we do not know if he altered the face or not giving him a facecode. Most likely he changed the face while importing to ME2 which then would have given his Shep a face code.

You can't alter a face in ME2 if you do a direct ME1 import. It doesn't allow you to edit the face at all, it simply asks you to accept the imported head morph, then moves you along to the class menu.

There are three options

Accept Imported Character
Default Appearance
Custom Appearance

If you choose Custom Appearance even after the import has loaded in, it will immediately default back to the preset head morphs, there is no way to "tweak" a face in ME2 that is a direct ME import.

Well, it's not possible to alter an imported face in ME2

No, it is not.

No but you can go back and forth between the default and the custom option to match as close as possible and then 'tweak' from there.

In the new registered game section there are several people asking about their imported faces not working..........................they're being ignored there too. Stay classy Bioware.

Yeah thats not really something that helps us right now.

See most of us have our Shepards already done and we can't exactly restart one of them at the beginning of ME2, do this back and forth editing, and play through the entire ME2 game in time to have an import that won't be an issue to import into ME3.

And before you say "but face codes", Face codes DO NOT translate correctly from ME2 to ME3 either. Only the direct ME2 to ME3 import....which means you'd have to play the whole ME2 game again, in...12 hours if you're a US player, to do this.

That is what I meant! He altered it meaning he completely changed it. Bad wording but I am just quotting from someone else. The fact is that this said dude doesn't remember if he did or did not. Most people like myself have mentioned if his ME2 Shep has a facecode or not. If it does that means he changed his Shep if it doesn't it means it did import fine.

Not seen my posts in the thread have you? I've said exactly the same as you. As I've also said I've had the same Shepard for five years and am not happy that I may have to settle for someone who vaguely resembles her.

The bolded section is the only alternative we have at the moment and I don't like it either.

So my statement from before referring to the CC in ME3 demo is particially correct (ME3 demo cc is not the greatest example to use in terms of face code) and the reason is that the CC is different from ME2 to ME3 in terms of slider numbering and what not.

Which is basically, no alternative at all. This should be patched. Plain and simple. But BioWare has their head in the sand over it.

Having just spent 2 months doing a completionist ME1 &2 playthrough ready for ME3, I'm not prepared to do that right now. I am not the only person in that position.

I'm not prepared to do it either considering I've had the same Shepard for five years, across more runs than I care to think about.

So wait. Tell me if I get this correctly. If I want to play mass effect 3 with my Shepard, I have to:
Import my mass effect 1 Shep to mass effect 2. And then just change something, like the hair or the beard. Then I have to play mass effect 2 ALL over again ?

Yes, you have 10 hours and 56 minutes.

Get cracking.

In ME2 CC, you can only create your ME1 Shepard from scratch.
No editing is possible.

Not quite.

You'll have to recreate your Shepard completely in Mass Effect 2 in order to get a face-code, since you can't tweak an import.

Then when you have that code just write it down and use it when you import your proper save into the third game and begin the tweaking again.

Except you can't change the face. You need to switch for and back and reconstruct the face manually.

Course a competent developer could probably patch this in less than 10 hours...but who am I to judge?
