From Michael Gamble:
"@Joe_of_the_Dead however, you may have issues if you did not adjust or touch up your face when starting me2.You will have to regenerate then"

How did they screw this up so badly?

'Regenerate'? I don't want Shep to look like Matt Smith!

ROFL!!!!!!!!!

What about David Tennant then?  :D

So, just so I understand, unless a day one patch comes out I will have to recreate my Shepherd's face in ME3 as it is an imported face from ME1 to ME2?

There's no other issues with importing ME2 saves/decisions etc?

The issue is just with the faces, decisions etc should carry through fine.

except the bugs, and the Udina/Anderson issue as it seems

What's the Udina/Anderson issue?

There isn't one. Udina is councillor, Anderson (if chosen) stepped down, it's mentioned in the novel, it's mentioned in the ME3 codex, random guy is crying about how it got his councillor choice wrong, the end.

Yeah, couldn't cope with the retcon.

thi reminds me, how did/does ME2-3 handle it if Anderson is killed in ME1? Like a bad dream and he pops up in your shower? (Dallas >>> intended)

So no matter what decision you made the game essentially ignores it? This is just adding insult to injury.

Anderson can't die in ME1, he can get shot, but he always survives it...

I used this method to get the face code for my me1 shepard and put into the demo here are links to the results:

http://i811.photobuc...er20/IMG212.jpg This is the one from the demo that I used the face code to get.

http://i811.photobuc...er20/IMG211.jpg This is a shot from ME2 squad screen.

They look similar enough I suppose, its better than starting from scratch, but a direct import would be so much better. At least if we dont get  a patch there  is an option here.

I used this method as well, but the resulting face looked absolutely nothing like my Shepard.

Did you upload the file and everything to the website? I did it both manually and with the code generation tool, and with the code generation tool it worked extremely well. I almost like ME2's interpretation of my Shepard than ME1. You have to remember to go change the hair/nose/eye color/beard sliders manually. The code doesn't do that for you.

This is still absurd that Bioware hasn't replied to this thread.

It seems established that this is a problem. If the fans run into this problem before the game has even been properly released, then it boggles the mind that it wasn't discovered and repaired during certification.

Forget 10$ day one DLC, I'd pay to use my shepard's face. Could some of the team have worked on that?

Yes quite, so much so that even this thread, which has been running for a week, seems to have flown under their radar.

I don't think we'll know that until a Bioware rep has commented. Why hasn't a bioware rep commented?

People that have played the game are saying that the game clearly tells them to recreate the face.

So no, it is not and oversight, they knew this will happen but instead of using they resources to find a way to allow a ME1 face into ME3 they decided to use them elsewhere and just tell players to create a new face.

And I have serious doubts about a fix.

In my mind there are two possibilities, either they are currently at work fixing it and don't want to say anything until it's been fixed... or they're just hoping we forget about it or this is something not many people care about.

The silence to me indicates they're pretty much banking on everyone recreating their faces and forgetting about it.

I care about this. I'm crazy OCD about getting a face just right. It literally takes me five or six plays of the intro to ME to get a face I am able to play with. Having to begin the game by fiddling and fussing after having been promised repeatedly over several years that this would not be an issue casts a shadow over the rest of the experience. If importation hits a bump before you're even out of the menus, then what can we expect from the game itself?

@Yuoaman

Given the amount of comic strips/jokes I've run into about people restarting their games to fix their Shepard's face, I doubt people won't care about it.

I tried the method from OP and it really F* up my femShep. So i decided to rebuild the face in the ME2 CC by jumping for and back and the face came out quiet close. Than i pasted the code into ME3 demo and it looked just like my femShep with the ME3-look each import has.

Did you put the generated code into the ME2 character creator or the ME3 demo character creator?

There can be some differences between the ME2 and ME3 character looks even if the code is correct. I would suggest that once you get your code from the extract, to start up ME2 again with the ME1 import so that you can tweak your face code there and have your imported face available for comaprison if need be.

Okay, apparently my code pasted wrong when I did my last test - the code works properly now. It's not exactly the same, but it's a decent facsimile, I guess.

I'm still not anywhere near happy about this situation.

Sorry if someone has already covered what I'm about to say, but has anyone tried starting a new game in ME2 with their endgame ME2 Shepard as the import option?
I did this and once I got to the point where I could open up the Squad menu, I found that my Shepard now had a character code available.

I just tried it, didn't work.  Still no code shows up for my maleshep.

Folks, we're forgetting the most important thing:

Mass Effect 3 is better with Kinect.
