You can't import a face created in Mass Effect 1 into 3! Bioware has responded! (See OP)

QUICK! Take a picture of them, download the demo, and try your damndest to remake them. There is no other option at this point.

Clearly there may be some problems, but I'm not so sure it's a universal issue for Sheps with ME1 faces. I'm keeping my facecodes close to my heart (on the shelf next to the jar) just in case, but hoping they won't be necessary.

That option sucks and is way more complicated than simply remaking it.

Do this, but use the ME2 CC and use the face code in the ME3 demo then tweak it. I took a photo from all angles to be as accurate as I could.Nafzger wrote...

I haven't tried my female Shepard yet to see how well that converts, but I don't really like her face anyway.

You don't have to do all the math crap. The website has a program that does it all for you. It literally takes 15 minutes.

I agree - we shouldn't have to go through this horse**** to get our Shepards. But if you want to play ME3 with your CC Shepard, this is your only option right now. It sucks but we deal.RHINOK 9 wrote...

Canadians have a fine brewery industry; no maple syrup needed.MarchWaltz wrote...
I honestly think bioware does not give a crap. They game comes out tomorrow, so all they are doing is smoking cigars or getting drunk off of maple syrup, or whatever canadians do.
But yeah - Bioware needs to get on this. Fixed within a week. Which is probably around the time I'll be starting my CC Sheps as I'll be starting out with Sheploo.

Precisely. Many people created their characters so long ago or created so many than recreating from memory just isn't going to cut it.KotorEffect3 wrote...
I have close to 20 Shepards I imported from ME 1 to ME 2. No way I am going to remember what they all looked like. Good thing I remember what my canon looked like though.

Unfortunately, you can't be blown away by a game you no longer identify with. Honestly, the only reason I got through ME2 was because I liked my Shepard from ME1. The story was too meandering and unfocussed for me to enjoy if he were not present. Losing that sense of familiarity is going to be a huge blow.ratzerman wrote...
They aren't fixing this, folks. This was a design choice. They're gambling that we'll be so blown away by the game that we won't care about the importing problem.

Ah, well. Props to the multiplayer team, at least.
As has been said before, Casey Hudson was dead serious when he said that ME3 is a great starting point, given that even longtime fans are goingto have to essentially start over.

I don't get the RAAAAAAGE in this, personally. Yeah, it seems like a simple problem that by all means ought to have a really easy fix, but on the other hand is it such a world-endingly huge deal to spend ten minutes in the character creator recreating your Shepard's face? If you're really that invested in the game and give that much of a crap about it, then you know your way around the creator from experience enough to do it in less time than even that.ratzerman wrote...

At least in ME3 it looks like you'll have the option to tweak your imported Shepard's face unlike in ME2, especially for the fact the lighting on ME1's creator, and the angles at which you can view your face, were so bad that Shepard could come out looking much different -- and worse -- than they did in the creator. I had to restart many a time because I spent time and effort making a face in ME1 only to start and realize my painstakingly-created face looked like grilled ass sandwich ingame. I'll never forget my very first Shepard that I spent 30 minutes making and tweaking, only to pop ingame and notice she looked like a 45-year-old streetwalker that had her makeup done by a hydrocephalic bonobo. Heck, even my best-looking Shepards had one minor thing or two I'd tweak if given half the opportunity.
