You can't import a face created in Mass Effect 1 into 3! Bioware has responded! (See OP)

I sent a news tip to IGN about this. If they deem it worthy they will put it up on their website then this will go viral...then it will get fixed.

Well, those 84 dollars I spent really sound like they miss me.

I'm about 90% positive that there was a face code for my ME2 Shep before, but I loaded the game up and it's just not there anymore....wth?

Doesn't it show up under the squad menu iirc?

I just found mine in my Squad Menu list and took a picture of it plus my Shepard if a remake is required.

I'm kind of shocked how this got through. Didn't they just talk about how they had a month where all they did was make the Prothean DLC? How about spending a month making sure face importation actually works when the game launches. Massively disappointed, not how I wanted to start this game.

EAware only cares about money.

This is extreme laziness nothing else.

The ME3 board on gamefaqs is blowing up because of this.

If the patch did indeed fix this, it's impossible to know. Everytime the game starts after patching it somehow overwrites it. After exiting the game, the same patch downloads once again. Origin fail, Bioware fail.

I've only used one Shepard.

One. Shepard.

For five years, ever since 2007, I used one Shepard.

And for the finale, the finale I've been waiting for for 5 years, I can't use his appearance.

This is WORSE than non removable helmets by far.

This is a deal breaker.

SING IT!

Screw singing it, I'm about to shout it from the rooftops.

Please do.  But guys, it's not even just unedited Sheps - here's mine in 1, 2 and - ugh - 3.

Aside from a slight tweak to her jawline in 2, her face is basically the same.  In 3 I can basically get a lot of things to look right... EXCEPT THE DAMN EYES.

And where did the eye makeup go??

Well, I just went through the ME2 import and no facecode ever came on the screen. This is such a bonehead mistake. I mean, really? Really, really? I'm going to do the best I can with the character creator, but I know I won't ever get my characters just right. I. Can. NOT. Believe. This. ALL of my Shepards are ME1–ME2 Shepards. Wow, talk about getting off on the wrong foot.

Uh...can't you guys go copy down your ME2 facial codes and type them into the ME3 generator? It's more work than should be required but it gets you to the same place eventually.

And where might I find that face code, exactly?

Should be on the character screen. That's where they are for the ones I imported from ME1 --> ME2.

This will go viral soon. Most gamers have played this  game since Mass Effect 1 and will be importing their custom face. From what I've seen no one is able to import so that is 100% import failure...This won't be accepted very long. Very tacky BioWare...Very tacky and unacceptable. Especially for this game.

This is rather disheartening to hear about. I sincerely hope that it's an error that will be patched soon. Some form of word from Bioware would go a long way to helping.

I actually took a day off work and got me a bottle of nice brandy. That was how i started playing mass effect 1 ( was a weekend , had ma booze and OMG lookit that game ). When mass effect 2 rolled out i went out and got me a bottle , and proclaimed that that is the way i will start all mass effect games. And here i am. 1 bottle , no work tomorrow, but no ****ing way will i be starting with the face this import tries to pass as my Shep.

Not true. Only Sheps made in ME2 have a face code show up. At least on the 360.

I imported my ME2 Shep from ME1 and I found my Identity Code. Not sure if that means Face Code too but I found that in the top portion of my screen...Not sure if you can insert this code at the beginning of ME3 though...

Well then-

SPREAD THE WORD.

Everywhere.

Twitter.

Facebook.

Hell, any social media sites.

Gaming sites.

Tell your friends.

Spread the word.

Hit up William C. Dietz and let him know the face codes won't carry over.

That is demonstrably false, since I'm a 360 player, imported from ME1 to ME2, and have a face code on my character screen.

The patch is currently broken. As in, it gets deleted every time you launch the game. Amazing.
