Hey guys, I've been hooked on ME since it came out for the 360 way back when.  I've done a complete playthrough on the 360 with a soldier about 3 times now.  Soldier is my main class, and the class I always end up going back to.

I played the ME3 demo and I really enjoy the controls (especially in mp) better than those on the 360.  The camera also seems to be "better" than the 360.. although that could just be in my head.  I just find it's more fluid and smoother and quicker on the PC than the 360.  So.. today I've gone ahead and re-ordered everything for the PC (even though I'm still getting a collector's ME3 for the 360).

My question is.. what class should I playthrough on the PC?  I really really love the soldier, and I'm one of those mattock/widow hack type.  I love it.  However, I also really like the vanguard, and I even love the vanguard in ME1, before biotic charge.  Essentially, I'm torn between soldier, vanguard, infiltrator, sentinel.  I don't really like the changes coming in ME3 for the sentinel, and I've already done a soldier playthrough (about 3 times in total) so.. I'm thinking vanguard.  However lately.. I'm beginning to feel a draw for the infiltrator.

What do you guys think?

I'd say Vanguard, as it seems to be the most consistently (read: OP) strong throughout the series. Practically invincible in ME1, a bit less so in ME2 but still crazy... Looking to be amazing in ME3, as evidenced in the demo.

Vanguard's my personal favorite, I must admit. Infiltrator is also interesting. But sentinel would probably have the most different playstyle from soldier.

I guess I'm going to say vanguard, although I'm biased. :P Vanguard is just really, really, really fun to play, what with all the bodyslamming people and shotgunning them in the face.

Yeah, I decided to go with Vanguard. It's a bit rough in the beginning, but I've cleared most of the story now, and my cooldowns are still a bit high (damn no biotic amps!) but my barrier is really good now. It's all about stomping face.

Probably going to beat it today, then do a continuation play to hit 60 and get all the resources, etc. etc.

Infiltrators were meh in ME1 ( i only played one because i liked Wrex and Liara in my group and i needed someone to unlock chests....) but are otherwise awesome in ME2 and the ME3 demo and have always been my main class. (they are also very powerful) That said Vanguard is very fun too.

They're arguably the most powerful class in ME1. Immunity (pretty much perma-god mode), best damage with the best weapon, and tech abilities on top. It's the best from both worlds.

That said, this probably won't make a difference if you've played already, but you can change classes at the start of ME2. No idea about ME3.

Meh in terms of fun factor, at least to me (granted that is subjective), probably just my dislike of being stuck with a pistol given how bad the sniper rifle was handled in the first game. Just found the soldier/vanguard to be more fun in ME1. That said Infiltrator was my fav class in ME2

Ah, ok. Strange that you find the soldier fun and not the infiltrator, though, they play similarly.

The SR was quite powerful if you were an infiltrator in ME1. You could use it as your only weapon if you wanted due to the huge weapon heat bonus you got.

Don't get me wrong, it was powerful as a soldier as well. Honestly I think Infiltrator with AR training is at least as good as the Soldier if you want to use rifles though.

Yeah, same for pistols (I meant pistols in my previous post). I've never played a SR-focused character in ME1, actually.

And yes, an infiltrator with AR as a bonus power is like a soldier with tech abilities on top. The only losses are heavy armor (pretty much irrelevant having Immunity) and Adrenaline Rush, which is not that important for soldiers anyway. You still get all the good stuff, some crowd control and better flexibility when selecting companions.
