I finally decided to go get Shale. When combat first started in this little village I switch from melee to bow. To my surprise, my Rogue started using his main long sword as a bow and shot arrows with it. Anyone else seen this? If so - is it just a bug in the quest or is it now permanent? Should I load from a point before going after shale and forget the quest?

Definitely did not happen to me, but I can't remember if I had an archer at the time.

I had that happen during Flemeth's battle.



To fix it: unequip ALL your weapons (sword(s), shield and bow), travel to another area, save to a new file, then reload that file. I don't know if the 'travel to a new area' thing is necessary, but I did all the steps above and that fixed it for me.

Loading a save fixes lots of minor bugs in this game, I've found.

I'll give those a shot. I swapped out weapons, but I don't think I ever removed them all.

I've had a character beating on an enemy with bare hands though the damage and such and special abilities were still there from using a sword and shield. It only happened in one battle.

Funny -- this never happened to me, that I noticed anyway!

Then again, I did play Leliana with just her Chantry Robes and no weapons for quite some time during the Warden's Quest event, so I am naturally not the most observant person in the bunch!!

I had this happen to me a little differently... I am and archer and sometimes (yes multiple times) my dude starts beating people down with his bow. It's rather funny to watch ^^. (**)>)-->
