So can the Engineer.

People like to say "I am boss at stripping shields with my Sentinel!"  Except that...well, the Engineer can strip shields just as well as a Sentinel can, except the Engineer can do it faster, and with the Drone active, the Engineer will also have help doing it.

So really, anything the Sentinel can do, the Adept, Asari Adept, and Engineer can do better and faster.  Unless of course you are so averse to  taking cover that you absolutely must have the protection of tech armor.


The funny thing is that protection is virtually undetectable on gold.


I would say that the tech armor protection is also virtually undetectable on silver.

It's actually pretty good, I did some math and with the Tech Armour and Fitness both speced for durability you get effectivelly 1375 shields and 1375 hp (on the human, don't know about Turian). Still worse than a correctly specced Krogan Soldier but pretty nice considering most classes can only hope to get to about 800hp and shields.

The only real problem with the human sentinal is that it doesn't really have any good powers. Throw and Warp are both decent powers but they don't really compliment each other that well. Replace one with Statsis and I think she would be on par with the Turian, as Statsis is only slightly better than Overload and the turian has better passives anyway.


only issue with that is that it makes the asari adept completely useless, how about replasing warp with something like a cerberus turret that takes a while to set up and can only be put next to you instead of being thrown out like the quarians?


Bit late for them to create new powers, maybe just swap warp for overload then?

Anyway, if the Human Sentinel was given Energy Drain to combo with Tech Armor then we might have a reason to use a 40% damage reduction and increased casting times since you would be able to refill your shields during combat.  Instead you are left with a combo that requires casting Warp and then trying to hit the exact same target with Throw (3-4 seconds later).  Sure when it explodes you get a nice damage boost and explosion radius but you have wasted ~5 seconds (if not more) and probably could have just killed the target using a weapon in less time.

EDIT:  Give the Human Sentinel Energy Drain and Throw and then we can talk about amazing.

The Turian Sentinel on the other hand is damn brilliant.:o

I’ve got Overload as R4 Chain Overload, R5 Neural Shock and R6 Shield Damage. With a fast recharge speed with 2 weapons it’s very effective in controlling the battle field.

I would have to do some testing but I agree that only a single Chain Overload is needed on the Turian.  Whether you pick chain overload at rank 4 and increased shield/barrier damage at rank 6, or increased damage at rank 4 and chain overload at rank 6 is debatable though.  In the first case you get +100% shield/barrier damage and in the second you get a constant +45% damage.  Depending on how many hits are required to remove a shield on Gold would determine which option is optimal.

That math really doesn't have any actual gameplay significance on gold/silver.  I have multiple 20's, my human sentinel with max fitness and 40% DR lasts just as long as any of them on those difficulties.  I've even tested and timed it vs turrets and phantoms. The damage is so high that only a krogan/turian sentinel will feel the DR.

What destroys the viability of human sentinel is how often warp is dodged by the enemy, unlike stasis.

I have to admit that a Energy Drain/Reave Sentinel would be very entertaining. Would make the Human Sentinel interesting as it has the least shields by default, and make them very ditinct while maintaining Adept/Engineer hybrid theme.

Aside from Turian Sentinel -- All the Sentinels are just odd. Human Sentinel is literally an Asari Adept that replaced tech armor for stasis, and lacks any true engineer skills. Krogan Sentinel simply lacks true Adept skills.

Sentinels aren't that bad, especially vs. Geth and Cerberus on Silver/Gold, max Overload,shoot then Heavy Warp = great combo,run around repeat,i use the Turian Sentinel,but don't ever bother upgrading Tech Armor,it's next to useless IMO.

I'm playing as my human sentinal right now on silver =) her biotic detonations are amazing, and I don't even need tech armor to keep myself alive.

I dunno, I liked the Human Sentinel with Tech Armor, Throw and a shotgun. He's a caster that can take a hit and keep on going.

the only thing that a human sentinel needs fixing is tech armor, aside from that its pretty decent class.

If Tech Armor actually reflects 25% damage with chance of staggering target at rank 4 & 5, it wouldn't be so bad. Right now, Sentinels aren't that strong. It's not a bad class, it's just that their trademark power isn't that great.

Tech Armor needs to autodetonate when the shield is down. And it should trigger no cooldown. This is an advantage for those sentinels who gets jumped. It gives them time to react when geth hunters drop in and unload a shotgun to their face. I really don't see why Bioware thinks Tech Armor is a good power.

^^^This. I could beat bronze alone. I can dominate silver with a team mate or two. I never tried Gold with one but he sure does well. I use armor for those times you need to save a life and survive yourself.  but its all headshots, overload baby
