This reminds me of a far older story.
When Pandora was given the
fabled box, she was urged not to open it. But open it she did, and just
as the wave of spoilers released by Xbox live, scripts, and distraught
former employees has brought this community from gleeful anticipation to
anger time and time again, the negative emotions of hatred, fear, envy,
greed, and more swept across the world.
But that was not the end of the story. Hope remained, buried under it all.
The
hope in this instance would be that the fired employee has openly
stated that he's not "completely sure about how the endings were
resolved".
The hope that those who have finished the game and posted,
have only done so by making various choices at the bitter end, and thus
may have quite probably missed another track or two.
The hope that the scripts all contradict each other at multiple levels.
The hope of the unknown strategy guide holder, claiming a "butterfly and rainbows ending"
And
finally, the hope that Bioware intends to make a franchise from this
series. It is far harder to gain new fans then preserve old ones, and
Bioware cannot be accused of lacking buisness savvy, despite its many
other complaints leveled towards it.
This is why, against all
odds, I hope. You may choose to do as you wish, but can you honestly say
that it is not better to hope and fall short, then resign yourself
before the death toll is rung?
