Well, I tried to fire up ME2 again with some of the DLC I just purchased in anticipation of ME3 around the corner,  but got the annoying "Mass Effect 2 is not currently installed" message upon trying to install the DLC in question. Fair enough, because I merely copied the game from the hard drive it was originally installed on, which was on a now dead PC. Unfortunately no registry tweaking or manual installs of the DLC did the trick either. So I thought, "I'll just reinstall it properly".

Unfortunately, I seem to have lost my product key. I found the cerberus card, case, discs, etc. but no key. I tried peeking into the registry files on the old windows install on this hard drive, but no luck. I don't even remember what the key was printed on, so if nothing else, telling me that would probably be a big help so I know what I'm rummaging around for. However, I do have it registered on this site. Unfortunately, there seems to be no way that I can personally retrieve it. I was wondering if an admin or someone might be able to help me out here.

Thanks for any help. :)

Ah, I noticed the FAQ covers this and tells me to contact EA support. Oops. I'll try that.

No luck, they claim my game isn't registered here. I can see the icon under my name just fine...

There are in fact separate registrations, one for the access to certain forums, and the other for access to official support.

If you install the Origin app, do you see Mass Effect 2 in your games list? If so, the product key can be accessed there. It is however possible that you had to have ME2 registered manually in the Origin app since Origin isn't a requirement for ME2.

Unfortunately it's not in Origin, since I installed the game well before I got that. :(

Does anyone recall what the product key was actually printed on? I can't remember and I've got no idea what I'm actually looking for here. If it was a simple sheet of paper it may be long gone.

EDIT - Okay, all sorted, I used a registry key finder and found it buried within an old windows install. I'm up and running. Thanks for the replies. Putting that key on Origin now.
