After exporting the DDS-file, i´ll try to open it (c_ragedmon_0d.dds) with Photoshop and get this:

Yes, looks like this:

No, looks like that:

Which is right?

And which parameters are the correct to save the file?

Personally I convert the DDS file to TGA with an external tool, edit the TGA file and convert it back, so I'm not familiar with your approach, but I think you need to save the file in the DXT5 format.

Thx, I will try and then report :)

btw. your tool is great, are there any plans to speed up the model-selection? Pressing thirty times STRG+ ► is a little ...unpractical.

I think you are experienced with the "Rage-Demon":
Do I just need to modify the c_ragedmon_0d.dds?
And what is the darker c_ragedmon_0e.dds for?

Okay, now a have the new texture and exported the mao.mmh & phy-files.

How do I get the new creature into the toolset?

The Item-tutorial above is speaking about some GDA-files, but they are for items. Anybody can help?

Everything works fine until I go to "retexture" in the Edit menu.
Nothing happens, my new texture obviously isn't being applied.

If it's of any use, I'm using the Photoshop utility in stead of an external program to manage the .dds file.
Any idea on how to possibly fix this?

Where? The Attributes Body-Tint and Body Tint Mask are set to (NONE).

May it has something to do with the c_ragedmon_0e.DDS ??? Where to use that?

I'm pretty sure it would only involve c_ragedmon_0d.dds. The "d" stands for diffuse I presume, as the colored image (what you should be editing) is called a diffuse map

c_ragedmon_0n is the normal map, and c_ragedmon_0s I assume is the specular map. I'm not sure what c_ragedmon_0e is. Upon examining the image, it seems to bring out the highlights more and darken the shadows. This leads me to believe that it's probably for some fancy graphical shader.

On an additional note, I solved my earlier problem. You must rename the new texture.

I don't have the toolset here (at work at the moment), but look at the mMAO file - what does the line for the "e" file say?

Say the original (wrong) dds, corrected it manually, now its a little too white :)

When i let it blank it looks like this:

Is that a DATool-Bug? It would be great when the Tools shows the different layers of the texture.

DATool only shows the diffuse texture...doesn't use the shaders, tinting, specular map etc... It's not a tool for previewing exactly how something will look in-game.

I have been trying to recolor some armor using this tool. So far, I haven't been able to get the edited .dds to show up in DATool. I have followed the instructions so I don't know what I am doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having some problems, can anyone help me? I'm trying to retexture the Dalish Elven Armor.

I edited the "pm_arm_hvye_0d.dds" on Photoshop and changed it to Greyscale, so I can see how it looks. When choosing the Retexture option on DATool, it asks for the "pm_arm_hvye_0d.dds". I select it but nothing changes, the green is still there, no grey.

Ad what about the other dds files? I can change only the 0d, not 0s and 0n?

Thanks in advance

About the first question that´s probably because you overwrote the same file with the same name. Try changing a letter when you save the modified texture and you will be able to see the changes with the DA Tool (if you want to replace it in game just copy the textures to the override folder and you will see it in game).

About the other textures they are the normal and specular maps. No need to change them if you just want to recolor.

nah few textures are exported as greyscale, those sfc mentioned and also mage robes, I dont use Photoshop, but Gimp, and theres this button, recompose/decompose, that will make you suitable texture of greyscale.

seems like the problem was using the same name for the retexture file, as mentioned by Taniwha

really thanks!
