Topic. Too many times have I screamed into my mic the following statements.

"THERES A TURRET OVER THERE LOOK OUT! KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN!"

"THERE'S A TURRET BY HIS BODY BEHIND THE WALL!"

"PHANTOM! THERE'S A BLOODY PHANTOM FLANK ING YOU!"

"HOLY **** THE PHANTOM IS RIGHT BEHIND YOU IMBECILE!!!111!!!"

"ATLAS IN THE HALLWAY! FOCUS YOUR DAMN FIRE AND DO NOT WASTE YOUR MISSLES"

"SHOOT THE ENGINEER BEFORE HE SETS A TURRET! SHOOT! HIM! NOW!!!"

I'd love to be able to quickly and effiecntly direct my team's attention to a high-priority target without breaking anyone else's eardrums or giving myself a brain bleeding.

Even then, marking a target is still 10 times faster rather than just yelling it out.

Engineer? Engineer where?
That Phantom is nowhere near me.
I don't see a turret!!!

And besides that, sometimes I'll yell it out, and no one will hear me, or I might not have my mic plugged in right in that moment in order to conserve battery power.

I wouldn't mind this. Even with friends it can be tricky.

I miss the /assist function Dark Age of Camelot had. You pick a target, everyone in the group hits /assist and they instantly target your target.

Just need a way to tag a target similar to gears, press the stick in, add a nice little icon above the enemies head, problem solved.

That's all I want.

But this breaks immersion! How do people in real life ever see a target marked?! This isn't true to lore!

/sarcasm

In all seriousness, I don't care all that much. I think it's more exciting when you don't know where the phantom is.

I know you're being sarcastic but you would think that it would be the opposite.

Everyone has a HUD that already marks targets for you (Health/orange box) so wouldn't it make sense from a lore POV?

I wish the demo had a voice of IP functionality so you could vocally communicate all those things.

Lol I know. But that's just it. People take this game way too seriously. People don't realize what they say and how ironic it really is.

I'd definitely be down. "Phantom! Phantom over by that one building on the side" is NOT GOOD AT ALL. I'd like to see it done how the Assassin's Creed Revelations multiplayer does it, where you can lock a target, but the lock fades after they're out of Line of Sight for more than a few seconds. So you can know where the phantom that's trying to stab you was, but not necessarily all the time.

Yeah, but Bad Company 2 & BF3 did it way better than Gears in that department. It would be very helpful, but I doubt it's something they'll add in for this game.

They do it with the last enemy

This is exactly what I suggested when mp came out. Paint a target so the whole team can see it for a while. It makes all sorts of tactical sense, rather than just having your character shout "Phantom!". I know there's one nearby, but I dont know where it is.

I agree, target marking would be a welcome addition to the game. It is well within the technological capabilities of the Mass Effect universe.

The red diamond that shows up when on enemy is remaining (or the blue diamond) would be perfect for this. And the keys to use would be the ones for "order squadmate 1" or "order squadmate 2", considering they have no use in multiplayer.

Eh, they'd want to make it a different color to show it was player marked.  A red marker basically tells players that it's safe to rush to that target as it's the last one on the level, and the blue marker tells players you better kill this target within the time limit or you lose.  They'd want the player marker to be green or some other color so folks don't get it confused with the other marks the game assigns.

1. You really shouldn't need to mark an Atlas. If someone wants to use a missile on one, setting a target on it won't stop that.

2. Phantoms are meant to be sneaky. Presumably, a biotically enhanced human with cloaking system would be tag resistant.

Or at least implement radio voice commands like in CS/Tribes.

Gotta admit, whenever I see a large group of enemies I instinctively spam the Select button...

Iirc the levels in the demo have location names for the various parts of the level.

Just use those when communicating over the mic and you're set.
"Phantom @ upper level"
"Turret @ <insert level part name here>"
etc...

Eventually decent players will catch on, the others are not going to pay any attention to your markers anyway.

A function like that for the turrets is the only thing I'm asking for.

It's been way too many times when the team rushed out into two turrets and then the rest runs out to try and rez them, only to get knocked down themselves.

Have the characters yell "Turret!" or something.
