It does, I've made a thread about this earlier and I still agree. Even with voice communication those would be nice to have.

Meh, if people would actually use voice coms it would be fine.
I would like to see a text chat in the lobby though and perhaps a spotting system, Ala battlefield. Hover over something, press q and the target gets called and marked automatically. Would certainly help.

My wife and I play co-op together in the same damn room and we've run into this problem.
"Don't go that way, there's a turret!"
"Which way is 'that way?'"
"Over there, by the stairs?"
"The stairs? There are a lot of--GAAHHHH!"
"Told you there was a turret there."
"Yeah, I see that now."
It'd be relatively simple to create. Just look at the system used in Portal 2. You could tell your teammate where to shoot a portal by aiming with the crosshairs and pressing a button.
Your partner would then see the location you're aiming, so instead of having to describe what you mean (or just leave it as a vague comment, which will almost always be misunderstood) they can actually see it.

Agree with the OP. Marking would be nice addition.
