I asked ME3 lead writer Mac Walters if he'd like to say a little about the romances in Mass Effect 3 and why they are, who they are and so forth. Mac, being a cagey sort, was a little evasive as he and Casey don't want to reveal too much before fans experience it for themselves. Still, he was willing to talk about what the writers want you to expereience if you choose to persue a romance in Mass Effect 3, and why we'll not be revealing more about romances before launch.

Read The Roadmap to Love and Happiness

I just want to know about Kelly Chambers because it will affect my import save and I've heard that she will be and more recently that she won't.

Yeah, sorry, I'm not biting that whole “It’s not the destination—it’s the journey” deal.... destination matters just as much as the journey, in my eyes.

Very interesting and it seems like they have taken relationships to the next level. March 9 can't come soon enough!

"It’s not about the destination or the outcome—it’s about the moments you share with these characters." --Mac Walters

Lies! I have achievements that prove otherwise! :P

Okay seriously, I hope what he wrote is true because a more natural feel to character interaction would be a welcome change in this series.

I totally agree with him on not knowing the romance options in advance.

I remember how floored I was upon discovering my female Spirit Monk could flirt with Silk Fox my first time through Jade Empire. Part of what made it special was that I did not see it coming. Instead it felt like this neat little side feature that added another layer of coolness to the experience.

Then again, I couldn't care less about reading plot spoilers so whatev. ;)

I kinda read this as "we couldn't come up with a good ending"

The journey and destination are locked together and both are equally important.

To be honest, that article almost felt like a slap to the face in a way. But I won't take it personally!

Well said my friend, and I thoroughly agree that your ending can only be as important as the journey that brought you there or the ending is spiritually meaningless.

I agree with many points but I hope the ''ending'' would be satisfying. I wouldn't want another ''Horizon'' moment really ( if you know what I mean )

And lets see how Clothed the romance scenes will be ( not that I would care that much to be honest. I just want to see if the natural progression of Bioware's romance scene will come to pass started from Mass Effect one , all the way to Dragon Age 2 , now with even more clothes ! )

Oh well , either way I will be looking forward to the journey. Not just the romance but the Bromances , deep friendships, frenemies ( yes it is a word ! ). I liked the last speech moments with my Companion as The Warden before final battle. Mass Effect didn't had that spread around and sometimes focues on spesific characters ( IE romanced ones ) and I think ME3 is the perfect time to focus on your deep relations with your companions and friends throughout the game with Galactic War is all around.

I am hoping for an epic farewell where Shephard, Wrex and Anderson would ride Space Unicorns on the Citadel, in front of a certain ''Turian Councilor '' ...

Not knowing only increases my anxiety, but thanks for the post, anyway.

I'll be diving into my guide as soon as I receive it. I never start a journey without a clearly defined route, including emergency exits. Hopefully, it won't all go up in smoke.

When I was playing DA2, my cat jumped on to the computer case and turned it off right as I was finishing the last endgame boss fight.

I'm probably going to do that on purpose for ME3.

Ah, love and happiness in the mass effect world...we have dismissed that claim.

No really, we have.

I would like to take the time to thank Bioware for not making a Fan service sequel, and say I appreciate you for finally making a game, not another movie, not another soap drama.
