I'm sorry to say, but he's bringing it up because I linked to it in my signature to show some of the nasty things people have directed at Mac Walters (and I've read worse i.e. death threats). It's the whole reason I've kept the "Shepard deserves better fans signature".

It saddens me to see a fellow Aussie pour **** on a writer like this. Mac's really not a bad writer if you ask me. He's no Frank Herbert or Asimov, but it wouldn't be fair to expect him to be. I just hope the all the nasty attacks on him and Hudson haven't affected them too much.

This whole furor reminds me of the reaction radical Muslim's have had to that youtube clip, minus the riots and bombings. It's just as stupid and childish though.

First of all, she.

Second of all. I'm not pouring **** on him. I'm calling him out on his BS. There is nothing wrong with that. And tbh I've never read or seen any of his writing outside of ME. Most of his writing in ME itself was good as well. It's just the ending was completely contrived and as a writer he should know that you shouldn't impose yourself on a story that much unless it derives from the plot itself. Which it didn't. In relation to the whole Synth v Organics theme of the ending.

Lastly, I'm sad to see a fellow Aussie pulling the nationality card to call someone out.

Try not to throw a tantrum at me pointing out how immature it is to bump this thread this old with the intention of trying to cause drama, anger and annoy people (essentially called flamebaiting and stoking the fire). Nothing wrong in reading something in someones signature link and agreeing with them but you went further and bumped a 7 month old topic in a hope to kick off more drama on here. Reading and having an opinion on it is fine, bumping it (with it being a 7 month old thread) for the sole purpose of causing drama is not.

Personally I know many poeple like my self who LOVE the Mass Effect Franchise thta criticize EAware for all the sh*t that happened with ME3. So many things were said pre-release that turned out to be completely opposite of what they really were. If someone spent 100 hours on something and are not happy with what it has become they have the right to speak out. It isn't childish to state your opinions and say that you are unhappy.

and btw it's truely childish that you feel the need to tell me they are being childish and to stop speaking their mind.

lol if you think this is arguing and b1tching, you have no idea about life my friend. I was just expressing my point, that's it.

There's nothing wrong with being a bit annoyed at stuff like this.

If it were any other game it really would be as simple as "don't like it don't play it" But it's not, it's Mass Effect, and I care, obviously too much but that's not going to change because you don't like it.

and you responding to her bumping this thread is just going to cause a giant arguement getting the thread locked. I bet Jade resoponded to the thread to talk about it not to cause drama.

and if having an opinion on it is fine then I see NO reason why posting in this thread is a problem.

I'm very calm indeed, don't worry about me lol. I didn't post to "bump" this thread. Pre-ME3 I never used forums at all so I don't really care for the whole forum etiquette. However, if you paid close attention you'd see that I hadn't posted in this thread before because I never knew about this little article. I had an opinion I wanted to express and add to the discussion. The time of the article is completely irrelevant. If I can't do that then what's the point of forums?

That being said, the one truly trying to incite drama here is you. If you don't like or agree with the opinion, ignore it or add to the discussion, instead of crapping on the act of posting itself. Which wont get us anywhere

He's not a good writer if you ask me. Come on, how could he write stuff about The Roadmap to Love and Happiness knowing that he butchered the main character like a pig at the end of the story? It's beyond ridiculous.

*Shrug* Mac said that the journey is more important than the destination.

The journey involved interesting moments.

The ending was what it was - good for some of us, not so much for others.

Where does the whole "sadist" (enjoying inflicting pain) part of the critique come in? The ending is a difficult choice, but painful? I think not.

Because the romances are all essentially pedestined to end badly.  be it an ME1, ME2, or ME3 romance.  Nothing you do in the game can prevent that.

Why take that journey?

How do the romances end "badly"?

They end, Shep dies. Eventually, the romance was going to end and Shep was going to die anyway.

Personally, I thought they ended rather well.

Alot of what Mac says is valid, but i'd like him to think back to ME2. Memorable moments, Dynamic interactions, personal relationships........ ME2 had all of those, but it had something else. A suicide mission where you had to gamble all of these things.

If the journey is more important than the destination then let me throw this out there too.

"You never really know how much you like something till it's taken away from you".

ME2 gave you the experiences, the relationships. They had to be built up. The sucide mission's purpose was to test not only how you had interacted with your squad, i.e. loyalty missions, it also tested how much the player was paying attention....... need a tech to open a gate? pick a tech expert (hope you know which ones the tech expert or <draws finger across throat> need a biotic shield? Pick your strongest biotic and ignore Miranda, her implants aren't that good.

ME3 by way of comparison may have given the player the chance to build up relationships, but it never tested them the way ME2 did. On that front ME3's gameplay and narrative dynamic was weaker than ME2's.

Maybe it had to be this way as the end of the trilogy has to be a little more set in stone. But BW blew away expectation's with ME2. I guess I hoped they could hit the same mark with ME3

Dying after years or decades of being together might "end rather well"

Dying just as they finally get together (or get back together) is nothing short of a tragedy.

Well the blog post stated it was all about the journey, not the end, so in that sense he delivered.

No significant discussion added to 7-month-old thread.

End of line.
