It was an encouraging read... but the proof will be in the pudding.

(or the proof of the pudding, for you purists)

It is confusing. I do not know if it is good or bad, especially in regards to My LI Miranda.

It's bad.

You should panic.

I hope to cry with joy, and cry with sorrow for various characters. I have a plethora of characters to account for romance and friendships with every romantic interest, including none through ME 1 & 2.
It is going to be very interesting to see how things work out with all the various companions we've had, will I lose some friends, will I compromise their respect for me as a friend or lover?
Story-wise, I think I have a whole lot of gaming fun ahead of me,  Chris Priestly might have to send out an APB to look for me to help out in the forums once in a while :P

Hopefully we'll be able to actually choose whether or not Shepard gets along with people, despite the Demo seeming intent on making such choices for us.

It’s not about the destination or the outcome—it’s about the moments you share with these characters. Yes, of course, some of them can be romanced, but where’s the fun in knowing that ahead of time? I honestly think you’ll enjoy each of the characters more by not knowing.

This is true. I knew a lot about Mass Effect 1's plot thanks to a certain friend of mine, but with Mass Effect 2 I hadn't even looked up a guide or the achievement list. The romances and the suicide mission were both much more engaging because I didn't know the destination.

That discussion could be about almost anything, but one topic was was rarely discussed outside of a final climactic encounter: Shepard’s relationship to that character. In Mass Effect 3, one of the topics that will come up—for those who are looking for it—is Shepard’s personal relationship with those closest to the commander. For some characters in Mass Effect 3, it’s been an emotional roller coaster ride with Shepard, and they’ve got something to say about that.

And going dark. . . now.

“It’s not the destination—it’s the journey”.

How apt.

Yeah, I frowned a bit at that part, as well.

I know that it's a hard lesson, and that things aren't always sunshine and rainbows. But I'm invested, and so if it doesn't go well.... it's going to hurt.

Still, I'm glad to see that a lot of care was taken to make interactions just as engaging and memorable. I think that's what makes Bioware games stand apart from others.

Bioware, we know you listen to the fans, very well at that.

HOWEVER, you will not be able to please the majority of the core, long-term fans, (not those who are courting you now that the Mass Effect series has more of a shooter gameplay) unless at least one of the endings has Shepard retiring happily with the li and/or friends by his/her side.

End of story.

I think they know that.

Whether they give a sh*t is another matter entirely.

If they listen to fans enough to make Tali romancable, I say that means they care.

What's the point of taking the journey in the first place if it all falls apart in the end, and there's nothing you can do to stop it? You're just setting yourself up for failure.

err i actually want to know romances b4 the game because i would enjoy the game more for it.
I dont want to spend the game going after one person only to be disallowed by the game to pursue it then end up with a less enjoyable game experiance. I already had that in me2 with femshep and tali and to a lesser extent in da2. By the end i didnt think that was a nice journey. I thought well... that it was annoying.

I kinda read this as "we couldn't come up with a good ending"

The journey and destination are locked together and both are equally important.

Especially considering if the journey has Shepard's LI DIE and then still send the galaxy cartwheeling to hell. My journey through ME3 isn't going to be so "beautiful" if Thane dies and then the endings turn out exactly the way I've heard them...
