I was playing my Vanguard earlier on Gold and I was doing my usual thing, electric sliding up and down the map to attack priority targets (Phantom, Engineer, Nemesis) and I found myself against the last two Atlas with the rest of my team permadead.  I had stopped caring by that time as I hadn't died once (in b4 nova cancel). I managed to charge, shotgun, nova, nova cluster**** them while rolling back to avoid melee until they were dead and my team respawned.

One of the guys declared the Vanguard as: "He who dances with Atlas."

What have you done on your Vanguard or other characters that left the rest of the team in disbelief?

I was declared a green Nightcrawler after my team was Phantowned on Wave 10, Silver. Gold, however... I'd have to go back to human to do anything of note.

Other two teammates were dead so once I was forced to take out a handful of Troopers and an Atlas by myself while the game was glitching really badly. It would barely let me run and wouldn't let me get into cover at all. It sucked. But I managed it.

One game I managed to kill a phantom, two guardians, and an Atlas in the same room--I pretty much kept Vanguard CH-Ch-CHARGING, Nova'ing, and barrel rolling all the while i'm spraying confetti with my Tempest. This was after killing 50% of the enemies on Silver with my entire team (premade) dead (it was just the 3 of us). I was called their... "Hero" --I know right, how original pfft

activating all 4 objects on wave 10 and finishing off all enemies alone, while the rest of the team enjoyed spectator view.

Meh, my krogan soldier with rage on and shotgun bayonet laughs at your weak human attempts. One smack from a krogan takes out two and some-ish bars of atlas shields.

Of course that mad melee damage is made up with the most useless grenades in the game, but who uses them anyway? Pimp smacking centurions and nemeses is so much fun.

I didn't die far off in the distance at the start of every round, nor did I require an STG rescue.

Quick noob question: what's the best weapon for Vanguards? I'm actually running with Carnifex I OR Katana II, still below average gear, i know. But that's what i have :3

Katana, and a lighter pistol/smg for backup. Vanguards get up close and personal, you want big bangs for the survivors, and you want those bangs to be quick. If you have the weapon and melee damage mods all the better really.

I find that a pistol or grenade launcher is best, with a submachine gun as a backup weapon.

Did wave 10 by myself on silver, all four little node things, all the enemies killed, and lots of sniper headshots.

Felt like a boss then.

I wasn't the Vanguard in question, but a friend of mine, in his second time playing the demo, Charged right into a Phantom's grill and proceeded to rip her in half. I helped a bit, staggering the ninja witch with a Concussive Shot, but he did most of the legwork. He finished her off with a Nova that flung her corpse into a wall so hard it ricochet'd UPWARD and bounced off the ceiling!

Incorrect.

You NEVER carry two weapons as a Vanguard. You want the most damage you can get with the least cooldown penalty. Carnifex is the best option IMO. High damage, good at short and long range, 200% cooldown bonus.

Two weapons = longer cooldowns = death

And what happens when you run out of ammo? And what if you don't have a carnifex? Either way you may not be lucky enough to be near an ammo cache when you're low on ammo, and you may have used up all your resupplies. Still = death.  That's why I recommended a lighter gun, to minimize the impact on cooldowns. In fact the .. uhh... I forget the name of the most basic handgun right now, but that one has next to no impact on cooldowns, so why not carry it, if it may save you?

I always carry two. Shotgun and a Tempest. And my cooldown is fine.

Wave 10, gold, rest of my team was dead.

3 Atlas mechs, 2 Phantoms, and 2 Combat Engineers in back alley of Firebase Ghost (the Benning/Mars one?) and my vanguard.

Challenge accepted.

Some ppl just don't spam nova's so they have shields up while shooting and cd charge. I use charge-nova-nova-charge combo so I need 200% recharge buff to keep cooldown as low as possible. That's why I stick with Phalanx or Tempest (both great for short range).

Also as stated above it is possible to carry two weapons with 200% cd bonus (f.e. I can use Avenger and Predator without cd penalty but I don't have time to shuffle weapons)

Vanguard's don't need weapons with most junk mobs. Charge-->Nova-->Charge (Or some variation of, often consisisting of either two Nova's with half-blast or Nova cancelling) kills almost anything with no danger due to invinicibility frames.

Katana X is the best weapon I have seen for Vanguard use. Ammo is never really a problem due to ammo boxes being almost literally everywhere.

I don't have a Carnifex, so I use a Predator.
Apparently, I usually don't even NEED the gun, except against Guardians and Atlases.
And then, I can just rush to the nearest ammo supply.

Me1 soldiers and infiltrators had fitness. Which was way worse. The great thing about nova cancel is that due to that exploit Vanguards cant really brag about how great they are without being accused of cheating. Which i find satisfying enough.
