It's vaguely annoying when you're an Infiltrator, and you line up the perfect shot, only to have someone jump in your way or pop 'em before you. Not really all that annoying though.
It has it's annoying moments, that's for sure.

I think we need to accept that people play for different reasons and not get worked up about it. If your goal is to top the scoreboard, then by all means go for that... just don't be an ass about it. On the other hand, any player worth their weight knows that teamwork is essential in this game... so it likely won't be an issue to begin with. This is probably a bigger deal for inexperienced players.

As an Infiltrator myself, though, I've probably "stolen" kills too so I don't let it upset me too much

The tards that play outside the hacking circle or don't hunt down the marked targets or that decide that 20 seconds to x-fil is a good time to charge across the map bother me.
I only really get my kills stolen by competing snipers or vanguards who like lighting off biotic attacks right next to me or my intended victim. And that doesn't bother me in the least.

Indeed. Everyone gets all exp at the end anyway. Now about that other current conversation...

If I am sniping I can't always tell who is firing at what. So if someone has already started shooting at the target and not in my LOS I tend to not notice and take the shot.
If I see someone miss with a heavy melee, or is about to get swarmed I will start shooting at the enemy so they don't accidently die. Even if they are a class that is meant for up close fighting, I'd rather they complain about kill stealing than me not being able to rez them in time.
When I play a krogan I probably tick people off the most. I melee everything including the Atlas. After a few kills with heavy melee, my krogan gets even more powerful and the screen starts to become a blurr. So I basically ram whatever is near me.
Everyone might not agree with me, but I really don't see this as a competition. If we all walk out of the mission alive and with our loot then who cares who shot who?

I understand what OP is saying to a certain extent, but in the end I think the game is competitive. It might not be embedded in the gameplay itself, but I know a lot of people that play games with improving their "score" as the main objective. If someone is getting in the way of that, even in a co-op game, then people are going to look for ways around that. That's just human nature.

Image you're in a race. It's you and your team mate verses four other guys. Alright, so the race starts, your running, and everyone is neck and neck. Then you see your teammate beggining to push past you and take first, so you begging to push and shove him to try and trip him up. He does the same thing in return, and as a result you lose the race you could have won. Would you not agree that that is illogicle, couter productive, and just over all stupid?
Putting "I want to be on top of the chart" over "Let's get this done" is just selfish and really kind of odd, considering their actually a reward everyone involved in the second one.
I'm not saying to be like Gandi or anything. And if you and your team mate are so far ahead of the other guys you can aford to push and shove eachother then go ahead, that's a great way to help improve eathother performance (metaphorically).

Different badges for kills and assists, or if they kill something before you have a chance to touch it no kill/assist credit at all. those are the only things that I can think of that would make sense, anyway.Ravenmyste wrote...
what i don't get is why they say kill stealing, when its team co-op there no kill stealing when you are fighting on the same team period you are there to help each other survive and keep everyone alive and kill everything together

I just want the bad guys beaten down, and my team extracted. I'll kill whatever stands in opposition to that. If I happen to snipe a target you had mentally marked as your own, it's not personal.
I'll make it up to you with cloaked rezzes. Deal?

The only reasons I'll leave a match in progress are unplayable lag or glitchiness (vanguards falling through the world for example)

Kidding, I knew the XP was shared, but is it the same with the money? I know we all get the same amount from objective completion and time bonuses, but I always thought you get more the higher your score is

Oh no, bro, I wasn't trying to disagree with you or anything. It kind of seems like it looking at my post, but I was just adding/responding on to everything in general. The last part was what was directed at you. I just wanted to clairy that I'm not like some anti-competition-winner hater. I felt I must be giving you that impression.

Agreed, I actually look forward to having you in my team because I know things are going to get done even if the two of us are rezzing everyone and killing everything.

then don't assure its competition with a statement like that, i don't care if i know you but the way you posted would make it seem that you are see what i am saying think before you post
while yes those are certainly reason to quit a game lag and falling thru the game but to say "don't listen to the op it is a competition"
could in fact make you look like your rage quitter, because you cant see the big numbers
