what i don't get is why they say kill stealing, when its team co-op there no kill stealing when you are fighting on the same team period you are there to help each other survive and keep everyone alive and kill everything together

Different badges for kills and assists, or if they kill something before you have a chance to touch it no kill/assist credit at all.  those are the only things that I can think of that would make sense, anyway.

doesnt matter about stupid badges as long you pull you weight and do you best  insilver and gold then whats the point..

as to quote the famous quote " badges, badges we dont need any stinking badges!"

I play an engineer with overload and I get LOTS of assists, but low kills. I always score low or the lowest. But I notice that if I don't screw up, we get through the mission. If I am distracted or having buggy issues, the party dies. So I score low, but I still kick ass.

This guy understands this game. If I were picking a team, he'd be my top pick.

Lots of classes contribute in ways that don't get them lots of points but are still hugely helpful, if not necessary to get through gold. If I see an infiltrator will a low score, I don't think that he sucks - I think that he spent most of his time taking out very particular targets that his allies have difficulty with (turrets, atlases, phantoms) and spent a lot of time reviving his allies. If a human adept has a low score, it's possibly because he was parking his singularity on shielded enemies rather than going straight for biotic combos, which is fine. On the flip side, if I see a vanguard with double the score of the next highest player, I might think he's being overzealous and might get himself killed when a difficult wave rolls around.

This game is more than just score. Much more.

The only thing that bugs me is when people snipe the stasised guy I was going to use for a biotic combo.

edit: and I do understand why people do that.  Stasised guys are very snipable.

It's vaguely annoying when you're an Infiltrator, and you line up the perfect shot, only to have someone jump in your way or pop 'em before you. Not really all that annoying though.

yeah i hate that too, but once you are lined up you still can kill them, i found out that funny way when  someone was in my way of firing and i  goty the kill anyways  due the orange square will show thru the guy and when you have direct line up the crosshairs  wil showa little x when you are about to shoot ui... but i really wish they would stop trying to hog kills when you are trying to do you  job

Nonsense. My human engineer always scores the most assists of anyone in any match I play with him. And that's because I'm doing it right making sure no enemies remain with protections intact, setting up everyone else for one-shot kills etc.

You need to stop thinking there's only one way to be competitive

I kill every enemy I see. Im trying to stay alive and keep my squad alive. If some players get butthurt because it seems like Im kill stealing then thats their problem to deal with. The goal is to keep the team alive and complete the objectives...I dont have time for hurt feelings.

for inexperienced players.

Oh no, bro, I wasn't trying to disagree with you or anything. It kind of seems like it looking at my post, but I was just adding/responding on to everything in general. The last part was what was directed at you. I just wanted to clairy that I'm not like some anti-competition-winner hater. I felt I must be giving you that impression.

Not at all.  I was just referencing your race metaphor.  Anyone that intentionally compromises the team's objectives or goes out of their way to intefere with kills is being an ass, and is likely not good to begin with.  That said, don't think professional runners don't keep tabs on each others' times and strive to better their own teammates.  Ideally, you either learn from a bad game or adjust to help your team as a whole.  In either case, your goal should be to improve your individual play.

I agree, even as an engineer if I'm not casting Overload, then I'm firing for headshots, and I don't care whos got sights on the target. Best believe if you fall that I'll come pick you up though.

I don't treat the game as a competition but I see no reason to spare a second if you can avoid it. Keep shooting and don't stop.

You can get tons of points playing solo, otherwise don't put score ahead of team survival.

I don't care about score as long as we complete the round. Incidently, doing your part is required to finish the round, ie if you focus on winning, you will recieve your due rewards. A failed round because people are scorehunting is wasted time.

First, it's not kill stealing. It's kill helping, the #2 motto of the Vanguards.

Second. it's no competition, but I play competitively! Why? Because when I am doing everything I can to come out top, that obviously means I am doing everything I can to get better than others. That logically means I do everything I can to get better at playing the game. THAT obviously goes into the equation as being more valuable as a teammate.

Why these negative connotations to competition?

Ehh for me its about seeing if I'm pulling my weight relative to rest of my group rather than actually trying to beat them to kills and such.
