Hey, I passed this by EA's help and got a 30 second canned response from EA India so I thought this forum might have some more answers. I recently bought a copy of Mass Effect [the EA Value Games version] off of Amazon.com so I could play through the first installment before playing the third [having gotten into the series at ME2] and have not been able to install it.

The box was sealed and everything seemed to go fine in installation but the supplied code sticker did not work. Since the first four characters of the code were DAGE I had the sinking suspicion that the code was a Dragon Age code and got stuck in the wrong box somehow during manufacture. When EA Help checked the code it of course didn't work, [which is why I had contacted them] this ended their "investigation".

Of course now I can't return the game since I had to open it [and that violates Amazon's return policy] to see the code was bad and I am stuck. I pinged the EA help with the my problem, the code and a picture of the disc in box with code and got nothing but a 15% off coupon. I don't know how common this particular problem is but simply want to find a way to make the game I bought work short of having to find a crack for a game I legally bought. Now I know value game editions are low frills, but I do expect to be able to actually play the game...

Is there any way to send the code/pic to someone who won't off handedly dismiss me?
Well thanks for your time in any case.

contact amazon or retry EA.

Some reps are better than others over at EA.

Not sure what the EA Value Game version is, but this is cleary an issue that should be presented to amazon. The caveat for returning opened software for most retailers is that it is ok to do if the software is faulty. In this case having a game that is unplayable due to an incorrect code is most certainly faulty. In most cases the retailer will exchange it for the same exact thing, but if I were you I would go for the digital download version that Amazon offers rather than an actual CD.

AFAIK, every time the subject of that edition versus this game comes up, it is bad news. EA screwed it up hugely.
