Thats probably why there is a Day1 patch on origin and you will have to install patch before you can play ME3.

This was my thought as well. We'll have to wait and see.

meh where's there's a will there's a way

I have no plans to stop modding the SP section of the game, origin or not.

I'm more curious how BW will react and learn from this title since it's their first and prob not last time doing MP

I was about to hit the "submit" button on the pre-order form and then thought: "Hmmm... Nope."

$90.10 and the possibility of getting banned if I change the FOV (and i have to; it's not personal preference). It will be one migraine pukefest if I don't.

Just played the demo on the 360 and need an aspirin. Not sure if it is the FOV, grainy textures or the.. Jaggies are everywhere! but the result feels like a kick to the head.

Well if they take the Blizzard approach like in D2 and D3, the first time you fire up a modded game and it detects it, you'll get blocked from playing and banned.

Origin gives them the ability to do a lot of things we may not like, and they'll enforce it any way they can.

If they let the modding fly unrestricted I'd be more than amazed.  Hell I'm not sure I could get my jaw off the floor at that point.

heh frankly I think Bioware's case is unique, although granted not being a huge multiplayer fan I naturally don't have as much experience with multiplayer based games.

Blizzard always had battle net and Warden for policing. D2 allowed you to hex edit your character anyway you want for SP with Bnet checking and making sure your online characters aren't messed up.

D3 and SC2 is now entirely online and frankly I don't know of a single Blizzard title that isn't running as a server / client model (Warcraf2?). Maybe somewhere out there, there's a title that is similar to what Bioware is doing.

the caveat though is that you need to be online for Origin to dial home. I don't see why a completely isolated game won't be ok, patches be dammed and everything /shrug.

Right now you only need to be connected at install to activate the game and then you can play offline, but they could easily change that to "must be connected through Origin to play at all", and then it gets trickier.

It's all guesswork and fun to speculate on.  I just have a nagging fear the end result isn't going to be pretty, but I'd love to be very very wrong so I can get my custom hair, eyes and outfits.

i'm not a fan of calling Bioware a liar but changing the DRM at the last minute or post launch would be where I draw the line. I boycott Ubisoft and have no intention of getting D3 because it goes against my believe that all SP games should be playable offline. If they do change it I can't imagine it will go well with the general public either.

I'm fairly certain when I installed Origin to download ME2 I uninstalled it after ME2 was installed and ME2 ran fine without it. Has anyone tried this with the demo? I couldn't care less if it breaks mp as it is just a crappy Gears knock off. I predict the mp will have about the same life as Rage and Bioshock 2.

Origin is required for ME3 as stated by Chris in a (former) sticky. it's a one off authentication if you're only caring about SP (i.e. you can be offline and still play) but an always on requirement for MP

I decided to try it myself but I've picked a REALLY bad day to try and download ME2 and the demo.
