I recently went to Amazon.com to check and see if my Xbox 360 Collectors Edition was still there, and it was, but I noticed the shipping date was Wed, March 7th. Do they change this the closer it gets to release or should I expect not to get this game anywhere near launch even with priority international courier?

I have often found that Amazon ships before the stated shipping date, and products often arrive before the expected delivery date. With priority shipping, you should probably get it by the 8th at the latest. Just be glad you're not ordering from Amazon.ca like I am - their expected shipping date is the 9th.

I always order from Amazon... Did you select release-day at checkout?

Well, I got the Collectors Edition of The Old Republic from them as well and they updated their shipping date and arrival date to arrive before launch day. I just hoped that it would be the same case with this game.

Usually for pre-orders they have free day-of delivery unless that's just prime.

I have Prime, so I don't know what it is like for standard members, but you have to select release-day at checkout IIRC. Having Prime automatically gives me that.

There was no option for release day when I purchased it, the best shipping speed I was given was "Priority International Courier (averages 1-3 days)".

In the end I'll be getting the game anyway but I had taken two days off to ensure I'd get some ample playtime before having to work again.

To OP, it depends on what shipping speed you chose. If you chose free super saver shipping, sometimes Amazon intentionally holds onto stuff for a few days to "process". It's their way of encouraging you to either pay for more expensive shipping or get Prime. As someone who always goes for the cheapest shipping option, I'm very familiar with them holding stuff. Yes, this sometimes also includes pre-orders. But it doesn't always happen. It just depends on what they feel like doing that day I guess.

I'm not prime and i could select "Release date delivery" for 99 cents when i checked out. Mind you mine was the CE. Though I placed my order back in January.

Amazon are often late unless you pay the extra delivery. That one tends to come 1-2 days early.

My shipping dates:

Shipping estimate: March 7, 2012
Delivery estimate: March 9, 2012 - March 13, 2012
(I'm living in Hungary)

I definitely remember March 6 as shipping estimate; I hope they will send me at March 6 - usually their delivery estimates are longer than the actual delivery date. A lot of times the items arrived a few days earlier.

I don't remember an option for release date delivery. I ordered the N7 Edition and selected the free super saver shipping option. My delivery date is listed as

Delivery Estimate: Tuesday March 13, 2012 - Saturday March 17, 2012.

Release date delivery for me .99 cents on Amazon. Don't know how anyone could not choose that option and they usually ship it on Monday for me from past experiences.

My only option is the priority international courier - this is the only option for the most of the European countries. I asked them about other options for increased price but no luck. :(

I placed my order with Amazon back on January 18th, just days before they sold out of CE editions for the 360, I selected release-day delivery and thus far it still says it'll be here on March 6. Of course, I wont actually have it in my hands until March 7th, but that's a minor detail. So long as Amazon follows through on getting it here on time, I wont have any reason to complain.

Additonal Note: I am not an Amazon Prime member.

I ordered mine from Amazon U.S. and selected release date delivery. Just checked on amazon and it still says estimated delivery date is the 6th and I've never had any issues with Amazon being late on the delivery when I selected Release date delivery.

What area are you from? Not everywhere is eligible for release date delivery. I'm in Hawaii and they don't offer it here. If I want it on release date, I'd have to pay for expensive overnight shipping. (Trust me, if release day shipping were available here, I'd go for it. 99 cents is cheaper than the sales tax I'd have to pay from any local store.)

If you per-ordered before they offered "release day delivery" and now they are showing that it is offered, you have to cancel your current order and re-order in order to choose release date delivery.  But, if you cancel your Collecters Edition, I can assure you that it probably won't be there to re-order.

That was the option given to me by customer service and I pre-ordered summer of last year.  Not the best way to do things, the earliest I can get the game is the 8th (in US).  Which is why I cancelled and just went with the Digital Deluxe.
