These ratings are based on overall weapon performance on gold when used by an ideal class (example: black widow on infiltrator), weapon weight to performance, personal opinion, and other factors. These ratings are subject to change.

The ratings assume that weapons are of similar level (for example paladin 5 vs a carnifex 5). Many of the best guns seem lackluster at level 1, but really start to shine as they level up. Also of note is that weapons that fire a projectile such as the falcon and the scorpion are currently bugged so that they fire alot of blank shots unless you are the host of the game. Automatic weapons are generally terrible, unless you are Turian, because they do poor damage, usually have lower accuracy which forces you to use the sticking to walls cover mechanic thus making you less mobile, and they expose you to return fire. Sniper rifles are significantly more effective on infiltrators then other classes.

The semi-autos with a high fire rate such as raptor, mattock, arc pistol, and predator are 1-2 points higher then what I rated them if you don't mind spam clicking the fire button at an insane speed, or are using some kind of rapid fire feature on your mouse or gamepad. Because of the fact that it is extremely tedious to click fast enough to maximize these weapons potential, I rated them with a range.

Mostly agreed. I would only rate the Avenger a bit higher, given it's effectiveness on power-reliant classes given its incredibly low weight.

So you have a scorpion?  An eviscerator?

Ignoring all of the sniper gun ratings, Claymore can be more useful if you are on gold as an infiltrator build, so have to give it more than 5 imo.

Avenger is worthless, certainly not a 7.  No way would I give any AR or SMG above a 5.

I could see avenger being an 8 because of its weight, yes.

No reason to use an avenger over a pistol.  I rate it a -300000.

There is a reason actually, sometimes youd rather just hold the left mouse button down and spray at a target then have to click repeatedly. I personally prefer taking the avenger over pistols even though pistols are arguably more effective, just because for me assault rifles are more fun (although carnifex headshots are great).

Never tried predator and shuriken in gold. but I agree with most of the ratings.

I wish the claymore and revenant can live up to their names, also I got so excited about the Hornet when I first unlocked it then found out it was a joke.

I agree with this. I enjoy using an assault rifle more. Though I have been taking a pistol over it.

Yes.  I prefer the Avenger for my Asari Adept, simply because for her shooting is just something to pass the brief time during cooldowns.  I don't want to get distracted from casting.

The main reason I stopped using my Avenger on my adept and vanguard is the lack of upgrades I've been getting for it. The damage is pathetic right now.

All of the SMGs are kinda sub-par. I can't really think of any reason why someone would use a SMG instead of a pistol or assult rifle.

SMG get a weight upgrade which makes them weigh nearly nothing. They are a sidearm.

Hmmm. I think OP is sort of amusing. Has a few weapons that I haven't used so it is hard to say. Just some general thoughts though:

All of the "hold the fire button forever" weapons are not good on Gold. I really don't understand why anyone would think the Avenger is better than the Mattock, let alone half the other weapons from other classes. It is light. That is about it. I will run it when I want to have a light backup gun just for the hell of it. As a primary weapon it blows on every difficulty.

The reasoning above applies to basically all the SMGs I have as well. Shuriken X, Tempest X, Locust III and now Hornet I. Sort of ok as a second light gun as a hedge against no ammo. But no real reason to take them.

I disagree with the Predator's rating. I like it as a light backup gun and it is in fact somewhat useful. Much more than 3. It is way more useful than the Avenger, for instance. It isn't the hand cannon the Carnifex is, but it is ridiculously accurate and does respectable damage for the weight.

Phalanx as a 9 is amusing though. It is ok but not as good as the Carnifex. You save some weight, but Carnifex is a lot better as your only weapon.

Claymore is fine with smart choke and heavy barrel, but like many of the weapons it is class dependent. No self respecting Krogan soldier should be in a game without one. Katana is better if you are very weight sensitive though.

Mantis is quite close to the Widow for general purpose sniping. It does not get to penetrate cover without AP ammo though... but against most enemies it is fine. And much lighter to boot. It is probably on par with the Widow or at most "1pt" below.

The Viper... it is crap compared to the last game, but I suppose it is "ok."

Depends on the class (and playstyle). For example:

I like the Claymore a lot for my Krogan Soldier, but it sucks hard for Vanguards.

The Widow can one(head)shot anyone (except Atlas) on silver and bronze. It can't on Gold which makes it inferior to the Carnifex when you're using a Human Infiltrator (questionable for the Salarian, who has ED to allow OSOK's with the Widow).
