So what happens to Bioware if ME3 fails?

Generally this is what happens when you try to market your game to the shooter and multiplayer crowds.....lots and lots of pointless and misguided whining. Still these forums amount to a a very small and isolated section of the game's players.....there are a few hundred players here at most while ME3 will sell millions, hell even if thousands whined on these forums it still wouldn't put a dent in ME3's sales.

If you have to ask, it seems you don't know what it is. But it's ok. It's a very rare thing these days. Do not mistake it with that "love" that hurts because true love also never hurts.
@Costin: I don't know what's the leak ending is but I really don't care. Nothing, even the worst ending in game history would make ME3 fail. Even if the Cavalcade of the Wraiths would pass over that universe and take them all to their world, ME3 would not fail. And Geralt could always rescue them all and save the day. =)

In simple words; in real life (opposite to forum troll life) 10.000 people will love this game & one troll will bi*ch on forum.

Yeah, this game is not going to fail. There's a lot of hype, and they changed enough to draw in new players. It'll do well in the market and probably well in the reviews. However, it won't be a contender for GOTY, there are too many other games coming out that will have momentum after release that will have people talking a lot months after they're out.
Like what?
GTA5 isn't coming this year. BioShock: Infinite who knows when. Diablo 3 is just for PC. Max Payne 3 although excellent & superb game isn't GOTY material. Same goes for Hitman. Far Cry 3 is generic no soul shooter. Assasins Creed 3 will be forgotten in one month just like AC:R ( awesome game btw.)
So tell me, what AAA game will be better then ME3 so it can push ME3 from getting GOTY.

So you've played the game then? Apparently not yet you seem willing to poision the whole playthrough based on the word of one person online.
I do agree the endings if that is a fair representation are largely negative. One need not let it color their perceptions of the whole product. If you didn't know then you'd happily play thinking this is cool it is so Mass effect yet now it seems people are going the whole meal I ate stinks because I have to pay at the end and don't like the cost despite heartily eating it down.
I already fell for the "but you haven't played it!" spiel with Dragon Age 2. I ignored all the warnings that were flashing in red neon lights on all the forums weeks before release. That cost me $60. Now I pay more attention and make a judgement before I waste $60, and I do so based on likelihoods and probabilities.
Woo and Priestly have been locking and deleting negative threads with much zeal. Barely do I start reading about some plot holes and suddenly I no longer have permission to post, or there is no thread. Don't worry, these guys have no qualms in shutting, deleting and banning arbitrarily. Besides, I wasn't saying they should do that. All it would take is for ONE dev in ONE thread to say "guys, there are more endings" or "you can better outcomes that these "leaks" suggest" and that would be it. All subsequent "whine" threads would link to that post. End of.
As to the ending making the whole game "negative" - a depressing set of endings dampens my enthusiasm to play well, find the best solutions, make the best choices. To me, the whole thing becomes a bit futile. A treasure map where you know from the start that 'X' is a booby trap. It may still be some fun looking for 'X'. Maybe that's just me. I guess I play these games for light fun and escapism, which apparently is not what ME3 was written for.

Wow so your opinion is fact now? Also Rockstar is pretty damn popular and is not only developing GTA5 but also Max Payne 3. Hitman Absolution has its own following and let's not forget Dishonored with its steampunk setting hopefully it comes out this year.
Also since when have PC games not been counted as GOTY material?
Guild Wars 2
Secret World
Diablo III
Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm
Tribes: Ascend
Firefall looks awesome
Counter Strike: Global Offensive
4-5 games coming from CDProjekt
Edit: How could I forget Prey 2!
^ Those games plus the ones mentioned before can definitely go toe-to-toe with Mass Effect 3. It's not like Mass Effect has the best writing (I feel ME2 had a lower quality then ME1) and the co-op while great fun doesn't offer much in the way of competition for the people who care about that.
Like Ostagar2011 said, Dragon Age 2 pissed off a lot of people and after playing Old Republic for 2 months I can easily see Bioware runing Mass Effect 3 especially if everything said about the ending script is true.

This might sell decently at first. If it's as bad as it seems, it'll die out really quickly.

Just guessing, of course, since I don't know their inner workings, but it makes a whole lot of sense: fewer, bigger titles, popular franchises, a gigantic fanbase in an even bigger potential market, and past successes. Stanley, how come companies like Blizzard can take as long as they damn please to make a game? What's preventing Bioware from doing the same?
But I'm sure they have their issues with deadlines and releases; their cycles are just a lot longer than everyone else's and somewhat sustainable.
So Tor was rushed?

You may want to exclude Secret World in that list. I have zero faith in Funcom( even subzero)
And im with Ostagar2011 too in this subject. ME3 is last chance for Bioware/EA for a great deal of fans. (for me at least) Many will abandon Bioware's fanship if ME3 lowers the quality of IP.(
Btw i guess there is a group waiting in their homes with pitchforks and torches and secretly hoping for ME3 to fail. Then they can unleash "Ze Nerd Rage"
Edit : TOR is beyond rushed in my humble opinion. Its only aspects are SW setting and VA/quests. And after reaching 50 games losing quest aspect. So we only have SW universe in our grasp with lots of limitations and really bad designed armor sets. MAybe the worst in MMORPG history.

It's more what happens to Bioware after they no longer have ME3/Shepard to fall back on. As long as that was the case they were safe even when producing crap like DA2.
It's down to how many fans they can carry to new IPs or games without the familiar crew of ME3. That's a lot more difficult than a final game in a series.

I don't think TOR has failed yet. It's bleeding players badly but it could always FTP and turn things around.

Well yea Secret World looks great right now but who knows right? I don't trust Funcom but it's the only upcoming MMO with out classes and levels. I love Eve Online but I don't like being forced to pvp especailly when I'm mining
><!
I want Mass Effect 3 to do well but first and foremost if the story once again isn't given the same attention that the characters do then I'll have to stop buying Bioware games on launch. I'm tired of characters>story.
Aye there is a lot of bad things I can say about Old Republic. I don't hate it infact its probably the best level 1 - cap ever. It's just SOOOOO short and in a themepark MMO endgame content is important. Without the grind people are left holding their dicks waiting for new content since rolling a character is NOT endgame.
Edit: Oh man Prey 2 totally forgot. It looks really good and its an open world scifi game something I would love to see Mass Effect become or at least a spin off.

Well they will go on. DA2 kind of failed but still was a financial succeess what I hear. ME3 has 1 million preorders already and probably also be at least financial successfully and they have SWTOR which seems to run healthily. If they keep up like that they will be like Blizzard and maybe/hopefully some day have the luxury of making games without having to cut corners.
It's closer to 2 million. But Skyrim did way better than that as did FFXIII
TOR is not even comparable to WoW. TOR has more sales than subscribers after a very short time. Thing you have to remember is WoW used to be a lot harder than it is today. It got progressively easier as the expansions were released.

Compared to other main MMO's out there, it has failed.
I'm hearing that out of 80 EU servers around 5 are active on a Saturday evening.
You're true about the FTP comment. Are there any clues about them going that way?
Also, regarding your previous comment, I think they'll keep on milking the ME franchise. They won't go for a new IP.

People have always been whining on these forums; it hasn't hurt their games in the past and it won't hurt ME3 now. Besides, if you believe the ongoing IGN review, the story is just as good, if not better than the other games' stories. That coupled with improved gameplay it is shaping it up to be the best game in the series.
Ign eh? Let me know what Rock, Paper, Shotgun thinks. I trust their opinions.

Witcher 2 reference FTW!
Though if we REALLY want to get technical, I figure a silver sliver accelerated to a fraction of light speed would work just as good as a sword...

Again different levels of fail. Compared to WoW total fail. Compared to Rift not so much. Of course being a SW game it should do better than it is , I'll give that one.
Depends how much longer they bleed off players. If they get to around a million I can see it happening. It's really not a bad thing to do while you have a higher than average player base.
I think that too, but the ME franchise is so closely linked now to Shepard and the crew in the minds of people I don't see it as being that much of an advantage.

Unfortunately I actually agree with this approach. IGN said Homefront's story was one of its strong points.
It was anything but.
I'll leave the analysis of story to other, more reliable outlets. RPS works.
