In the Circle of Magi on the first floor, north side,  there is a locked door that cannot be opened or picked. It says, "An unseen force holds these doors."
Ive already completed the mage tower and this is my 2nd time through the game. I never figured out a way to open the doors. I also got a "bedroom key" from a mage i killed in the deserted building in Denerim and i thought that might open it but no luck. The NPCs standing around the door arent helping. Anyone know how to get that open?

Explore the rooms again with Tab pressed. There should be some Apprentice notes lying around. Collect them all and follow the instructions.

I think I have all the notes. Im on PS3 so i cant highlight all objects but im pretty sure i left nothing behind. I have 2 circle quests left to do. Summoning Sciences and Watchguard of the Reaching. Do either of them have to do with the door?

The bedroom key is superfluous if you have a rogue because you've likely picked the lock already before killing the boss. The room before the final bossfight has three doors, if memory serves -- one where you come from, one that leads to the boss, and the third is the locked bedroom. The key is just there in case you don't have a lockpicker.



If you're talking about the door in the Circle Tower in the room where you pick up Wynne, the one at the bottom of a short flight of stairs leading down, that is tied to the Watchguard quest.

There's a small storage room that requires a key. It's on level 2 or 3. The key is non existant as far as I'm aware.

I figured it out. It was the Watchguard of the Reaching quest. You never enter the door but after going through the steps when you try to open it again a demon spawns that drops a nice 2h wep. The locked door on the 2nd floor is only for those starting as a mage.
