I occasionally have trouble sniping Guardians. It seems like every shot that I aim at their visor just knocks them back. It seems like there's an exact spot that you have to hit them in. Does anyone know where that spot is?

A pic would be great to show us sniping noobs how it's done. I'm on Xbox so I can't upload a screenshot myself.

I'm... confused.
You aim for the open slot in their shield. If the Guardian is knocked back, that means you missed and need to better refine your aim.

It's as simple as that. :D If the Guardian is being moved around by someone, which unfortunately happens sometimes, then I'll fire at their shoulder.

It is where it looks like it should be, its just very narrow. Usually a case of aiming a bit too high or low...whenever I miss, it tends to be low. If that helps at all.

Aim for the foot. Or the arm that's holding the gun.

Use Widow. Aim in general vicinity of shield slot. Shoot. Profit.

There have been quite a few times that I have a perfectly clear shot right at the visor. I aim at it and all I get is a knockback and there have been times where I aim a little below the visor and get a headshot. It's very inconsistent.

If they're moving then you might have to aim where they're going to be instead of where they are. At least that's what it seems like the problem is from what you've described.

Aim at the slot. With a precision weapon like a sniper rifle or scoped pistol, just go for the center of the slot. I find that with pistols it's better to aim higher rather than lower (kinda odd).

With assult rifles or SMGs, aim at the bottom edge of the slot because the kick will move your aim up - this way you can hope for a couple of hits instead of just one.

Don't even bother with a shotgun unless you can move the shield.

It's the angle of the shot that's throwing you off. I noticed that being on a different level than they are makes it harder to hit. Specially if you are on lower ground, for some reason.

This is just a guess, but I think as they move the shot doesn't go through because the "window" moves slightly up or down and you end up hitting the very edge of it.

I find that leading the shot only slightly (like, 2 pixels slightly...:P) helps connect. Ohter than that, it seems to connect acroos the whole width of the visor...

Good luck.

Aim right between their beady little glowing red eyes.

I'd rather shoot/snipe them in the ankle/foot than take the time to aim for the eyes.

Shoot guardians in between the face plate, the hand, the foot, over top of the shield at the head. Any of those spots is easy snipable.

Wiiiiiiiidow.

If you, or any of your team, has one then you'll love facing Guardians - they are easy points to a player with the anti-materiel rifle :)

accuracy isn't perfect. there is a small amount of random error on each shot. the farther away you are the more important it becomes.

on firebase ghost, the top of the stairs to the ramp on the right seems to be ideal range.

Usually, spraying your weapon and aiming for that small slit in their shield works. Doesn't take long until their head explodes.

You see those red lights? Right between them. That's where the sweet spot is.

Either that, Widow, Stasis, Pull or flank.

Aim, move the reticule near the window slit, wait for them to move until your crosshair placed at its eyes, cloak, shoot, poof! --> exploding head
I find using mouse's a bit easier to aim. Sometimes lag cause the aiming to be off a bit. In that case, shoot at other visible body part. If you use the widow, just aim at the head even though they cover it with their shields. It will pierce them.

You can use Pull on them too. It rips the shield from there grips and free you up for a easy head shot!

This.

Heck, I've played for like three or four hours and I've got that down.

Shame that there are so few classes with Pull. It's really useful sometimes.
