The Journey because for all you know the Destination lands you in a pit with no way out.

Yes, we already know you're into that kind of thing as you post that one sentence in every thread, even non-topic as this one.

Destination. No matter how good the journey makes me feel, a terrible destination just makes everything suck.

It's like someone gives me a piece of chocolate and promises that it will be amazing until the last bite, which will be so terribly bitter and sour I'll wish I'd never eaten it. Yeah... I'm probably just not going to take the last bite. Likewise, I'll be stalking forums and YouTube on release day to confirm endings before I commit to the game.

I've got the perfect example of what playing ME3 will be like.

Imagine a bowl of your favorite food. It's prepared perfectly. It tastes better than anything you've ever had in your entire life. And then you find a dog turd at the bottom of the bowl.

Doesn't matter how great that food was, there was still a turd at the end of that meal.

The whole thread gets 5 stars from me , just for this analogy.

Both are equally important. That quote is complete crap imo.

Third option: both.

I wouldn't play a game if the destination or/and the journey suck(s).

Both.

The Journey means nothing if the Destiation wasn't worth the ride.

Why did I immerse myself in the first part of this analogy, while I knew where it was heading? Image IPB

But I agree with you. Although I'd like a good journey and destination. Image IPB

There is always a turd at the end of meal. Every journey in life ends with death. Survival is the ultimate victory.

I honestly think the leaked ending is great and memorable. For once it gives the gamers an opportunity for a ending that requires the ultimate sacrifice. I like to know that in order to stop a deadly cycle that has repeated successfully for possibly millions of years, it takes more than just the sentient beings working together. I like to know that an actual cost is needed to achieve victory, giving us the need to think about what happens afterwards instead of everyone magically surviving a galactic threat no species before us could and living happily ever after in a world of sunshine, flowers and butterflies.

Through commander Shepard's actions, it could result in the Earth being devastated after the war or surviving for the humans to rebuild. Through command Shepard's sacrifice, every species in the galaxy has a chance of survival. Even if Shepard dies, this isn't necessarily a depressing ending. To me, this ending gives you a sense of hope, to know that the species in the world can repair the damage, rebuild their war-torn cities, and once again attempt to develop technologies that will allow the existence of a galactic community.

When I finish the game, I'll be wondering, curious as to how the galaxy will develop once again. If this game ended with everyone surviving, everything is perfect and all is good after a galactic war, there won't a need to think at all. This ending will just be another one of those generic, predictable and forgettable ones.

I absolutely agree with you!

+1 cookie for you.

Essentially, the endings convey the depressing message that nothing we have done in the previous two installments, or in this one for that matter, has any real impact. The ending is grim in any of the three ways it can possibly happen.

The biggest issue for me is the separation between the crew and Shepard. I have no problem with the potential for people to die, albeit if this is carried out in a meaningful way. But the hamfisted twisting of the story to force us to suffer the "emotional impact" of losing everyone we've fought and bled beside spits in the faces of many fans.

That thing in the bottom of the bowl isn't dog turd. It's a pile of putrid f***ing diarrhea with a little rat poison mixed in for good measure. Enjoy.

another analogy

the worm at the bottom of the muscal bottle. everyone drinks the alcohol , very few people will eat the worm....but the more drunk you are , the more likely you are to eat it.

Destination. If the destination turns out to be crap the journey becomes meaningless to me. I never bought into the whole journey business. The journey exists to reach a destination...if the destination proves fruitless then the journey is invalidated.

Which is why the ending of ME3 is going to sour me to the entire franchise and eliminate any desire I have to replay any of them in the future.

Ah well, hopefully Bioware makes something closer to my tastes next time around. Just wish they weren't one of the very few companies making games heavily fortified with story and choices.

Fairly mad, but tempered with my anger for the endings.

Here's the deal, on how I see it. I have sunk 600 hours into this series, probably more. I am not going to back out now, not when once Shepard's story ends I have no more vested interest in the Franchise.

In addition, I believe there will be DLC somewhere down the road to correct this mockery of an ending.

So id say, the journey. You guys have to be fair to Bioware on this, its been one hell of a ride. When I get to the ending, im gonna be just as mad as the rest of you. This is unfair to all of us. But I want to know, ultimately, if Bioware thinks my character deserves to live based on his choices.

Journey,folks,Journey.

If you had an awesome journey and got raped right at the end, you'd still probably hate the person responsible. Just sayin'.

Yes but the series has always been about choice. Should there be a bitter sweet ending yes but there should also be the traditional "happy" ending as well as the god did you mess that up ending.
