The thing that bothers me and it is always the same thing, is that whenever this sort of mess happens. BioWare doesn't say anything, they just keep their mouths shut. They probably can't say anything because it would be spoilers or who knows what, but can't they at least confirm or deny things. I just want to know whats what instead of trying to guess if the best ending is truly the best ending or not.

I really don't get people clicking a link and complaining about spoilers when the the title of the freaking thread says SPOILERS. You knew this thread contained spoilers before even clicking the link. So if you don't want to see spoilers perhaps you should avoid clicking on threads with the word spoilers in the title.

They can't confirm or deny anything involving possible spoilers.  Confirming it would be spoiling things.  The last thing Bioware wants to do is spoil the ending before it's even released.  And definitively stating that the rumor is a hoax would cause problems down the line.  Once Bioware announces that a particular rumor is fake, then people start looking for rumors Bioware doesn't respond to, and decide that those rumors must be true.

So as unfortunate as it is, the best thing that Bioware can do is to not say anything.

All that you can do at this point is sit tight and wait.  The game will be out in a week, and people will start getting a solid idea of what can happen in the ending over the next couple of days (as the fanatics plow through it and start checking options).  It could be that this is all a hoax.  Or it could be that this is all true.  Or it might even be the case that this is all technically true, but makes a lot more sense (and is much more fulfilling) once we have the appropriate context that the game will provide.  Both Alien (the movie) and Halo 3 (the video game - drawing on two different mediums and stories here) ended with the protagonist alone while in the depths of space (Admittedly, Master Chief did have an AI; but Ripley only had a cat).  And yet I'm not aware of any great complaints about those endings.  Wait and see.  I wouldn't be terribly surprised if the ending of ME3 ties back into the start of character creation in ME1, when the data file on Shepherd is found to be corrupted, and the player is forced to "reconstruct it" (i.e. create their own version of Shepherd).

It's possible we'll get an "And they all lived happily ever after" ending.  We might get a "Heroic Sacrifice" ending.  We might end up with a "Captain America" ending (i.e. Shepherd is revived after 200 years; and the "special bonus" for those faithful in ME2 is your ME1 love interest being revived alonside you), at which point Shepherd finds out just how his choices changed the galaxy.  Or we might end up with something entirely different.  All we can do at this point is wait and see.

What do you expect? We're dealing with the reapers, who have been systematically wiping out life in the galaxy for millions of years. I haven't read any of the spoilers, but to give a happy ending where EVERYTHING is fine and life goes back to normal in the galaxy would be ridiculous.

this what i expected in the first game really, and anyway  they are happy endings in way  the reapers get destroyed and the universe is saved pretty much.

Aye. I prefer bittersweet endings myself. Shepard dying doesn't phase me. It's everything else.

Many comments from BioWare and posters on the forums said that the plot and endings in the beta leak were going to change in the final version of the game. I assume that was just standard denial and the actual plot and endings on ME3 are in line with the beta leak, correct?

The Third has a disappointing ending? The entire game plot was a disappointing ending to Saints Row 2.

If the ending isn't explosions of fairy dust and rainbows, or something akin to the ending of Star Wars Episode I with the parade, I'm canceling my pre-order.

ok i havnt read any of the endings and i dont want too,
but chances are that the endings that have been leaked, are not the best possible ending you can get,

since the only people that have the game are reviewers and the space edition people, and alot of people are playing it on the PS3 for some reason, so there is a good chance that, all these bad endings are from playthroughs that have not been imported from Mass Effect 1,
or the player just made really bad choices,

and i know that i havnt read the endings but, what do you expect, for shep to find a bunch of ewoks and play the yub yub song, or run off with his crew holding hands in to the sunset and a double rainbow, no, the past two game have been leading up too this ,  WAR WITH THE REAPERS, there is going to be blood, lots of it, death is going to be everywhere, there has never been a happy ending in war

I never expected a happy ending to all this. We're dealing with giant machines that have successfully harvested advanced organic life for millions of years after all.
Can't just blow them all up and be home in time for cornflakes, like it was nothing.

I haven't read spoilers for the endings though.

I'm not watching the endings but I have one question and this is all that really matters to me: in the endings where the reapers don't win is the reaper conflict over for good or is there a sudden ending where it's all to be dealt with in a future game or something.

Also I doubt that anyone really saw the best ending yet. I remember before ME2 was out some were panicking that no matter what you did Miranda would die in the suicide mission and we all know how that turned out.

Endings are pretty crap, slim chance of your Shep actually living to see another day. Let's not even bring up what happens to the Normandy and its magically teleporting skills.

Well after every planet and mass relay and civilisation and of course the Normandy and crew is destroyed we learn that the Reaper fleet was only a scout unit and the main fleet is still on the way. That would be wtf ...

It's a fight against the Reapers and not against bunnies. It has to be depressing.

Me personally, i'll be diasappointed if the endings are really atrocious as some people are making them out to be. Like i have previously said, i've heard the endings are supposed to be bad, but don't actually know the specifics as i don't want to spoil the game for myself. Being a huge ME fan and putting countless hours into the games, i will feel gutted if the endings leave the story unfinished or leaves the player feeling unfulfilled in someway.

The best way i can describe it is like the lead up to having sex, but not getting any at the end as the missus complains she has a headache.
